Last year I had met a taxi driver who was the ever so sweet and delightful person throughout our ride. He was the father of one of the martyrs' of Phulwama. His parents had expired within a gap of two weeks and he didn't have enough money to visit his ancestral place for their last rites. He claimed that the actual amount given by the govt was too minimal and that he had to drive a taxi through the city collecting the remaining amount to buy a bus ticket.

My friend was a little sceptical so she asked him his details and looked him up. And he had indeed been the very person he had claimed to be. We gave him whatever little money we had which he accepted after a lot of convincing. He kept saying "Aap bachchon se kaise le sakta hoon" (How can I accept money from you kids)

The situation is terrible and the soldiers' deaths are always overlooked by the Indian media
