The Rape of Draupadi by Satya Chaitany

(As according to Bheel Mahabharata )

The tribal Bheels have a Mahabharata version of their own, episodes of which are narrated or sung during their festivals, usually accompanied by music and sometimes with dance – a captivating version that never fails to thrill, one of the secrets of its allure being its truly enchanting folktale-like quality. This article tries to understand an episode from it, on its own and in relation to Vyasa’s epic.

I didn't read it after mention of Hastinapur because Draupadi didn't live in Hastinapur when Karna was alive so this story is by someone who didn't even watch show on Mahabharata

Question -

Isn't Vasuki the Naga on Mahadev's neck?

Funny part is in Mahabharat of Vyasa. Vasuki is Arjun's brother in law. As mentioned by Yudhishtir, Arjun marries Vasuki's sister after Khandavdaha. In southern folklores her name is given as Arraki and title Bhogavathi (princess of Bhogavathi capital of Vasuki)

Vasuki was brother of Sheshnaag

Arjuna married Vasuki's sister

Arjuna also married Balram's sister who is incarnation of Sheshnaag

Arjuna's descendant killed Nagas

Arjun's wives were

1. Draupadi whom he won in her swayamvar contest,

2.Chitrangada ( a marriage negotiated by her father and him with special inheritance conditions)

3. Ulupi (a naga widow with whom he had a consensual one night stand and acknowledged as wife after war)

4. Subhadra (whom he kidnapped with Krishna's consent, she was ok with it either earlier or eventually)

5. Alli a tribal queen (whom he raped with Krishna's help but who later accepted him as husband at Draupadi's request)

6. Pandya princess Chitra from south

7.Vasuki's sister Arakki

In Indonesian MB he is married to Shikhandi who is a woman there but not Draupadi who is only married to Yudhishtir. Other wives are the same. Plus there is one Rishi's daughter whom he marries as well.

So 7 wives if all versions are considered.
