The latest film to join the bandwagon of films moving straight for a digital release is Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi. The biographical film, based on the life of J. Jayalalithaa, late politician and film actress will now not see a theatrical release.

She clearly said while satellite rights are sold to both Amazon and Netflix. Thalaivi won't release on digital platform but will release in theaters.
