Khauff

Rishi sat on the sofa with a loud thud after placing two bowls of popcorn on the table. He was really angry with the person sitting besides him...

Snatching the remote, he said,"Bola tha na tujhe... Main abhi aa raha hoon. Mere aane se pehle movie start mat karna. Aur tune start kar bhi di? Thodi der ruk nahi sakti thi?"

The person sitting besides him, to whom these words were addressed coolly picked up one of the two bowls of popcorn and replied,"Arre start main to sirf cast names aur introductory scene hai... Tujhe use dekh kar kya karna hai? Waise bhi, wo bilkul boring part tha... Kuch bhi to nahi tha usme."

Rishi stubbornly replied,"Dekh Neha... Main to starting se hi dekhunga... Aur ye teri saza hai ki tujhe ye poora part dobara dekhna padega... Shuru se."

Neha made a face as Rishi started rewinding the CD.

They were alone at home as the entire family had gone out. The seniors and their bhai and bhabhi had gone to Bandap for some important pooja which did not require their presence... And Kajal had gone to Saavi's house for studying as they both had an exam the next day.

Alone at home, they decided to watch a movie and Rishi had brought out a CD of a horror movie.

Neha focused back on the screen as the movie began...yet again.
She was intentionally passing comments after finding loopholes in the plot. After some time, Rishi was irritated.

"Yaar... Tu shanti se movie nahi dekh sakti kya?"

Neha nodded her head but continued muttering...

"Ye movie dara rahi hai ya hansa rahi hai? Agar hansna hi tha to main koi comedy movie dekh leti..."

Then after some time...

"Aisi horror movie dekhne se to achha banda koi science fiction ya koi action movie dekh le."

And again...

"Ye horror movie hai mujhe to yaqeen hi nahi ho raha hai..."

Rishi was literally burning in anger. But he maintained a calm tone and said,"To tu dekh kyon rahi hai? Jaa yahan se..."

"Achha theek hai... Ab main kuch nahi bolungi."

She did an action to zip her mouth close...

Rishi said to her in a warning tone,"Aur yahi tere liye achha hoga..."

They resumed watching the movie in silence. Rishi was surprised as Neha did not utter a single word for the past fifteen minutes and it was quite unusual... His sister was one unique person who was always pointing out loopholes and giving logical explanations while watching movies. Not to mention her extreme dislike for those stupid ghosts with painted faces... White Jokers as she called them. So, this was something new for him.

He turned his head to look at her only to get a surprise... Neha was sitting straight with a serious expression on her face and... And a knife in her hand. She was playing with it, twirling it around in her hand and running a finger on its blade as if to test it's sharpness.

Rishi called out to her...

"Neha..."

She turned her head with a jerk and sat there staring at him. Her eyes had a wierd menacing glint and she was having a strange seriousness on her face. She sat there, staring at him without blinking while playing with the knife in her hands...

Rishi was scared a bit. He touched Neha's shoulder.

"Neha... You okay? Kya hua hai tujhe?"

Neha got up from the sofa and took a step forward. She leaned towards him as he was still sitting on the sofa and pointed the knife towards him.

"N... Neha... Kya kar rahi hai ye?"

Neha smirked and said in a voice having a strange tenor,"Tera khoon peena chahti hoon..." She stared at Rishi. "Kahan se kaatu..." She placed the knife on his wrist. "Yahan se?" She moved closer, put the knife on his neck and whispered in his ear,"Ya yahan se?"

Rishi was getting scared now... He started thinking. "Ye kya ho gaya hai Neha ko? Kahin iske andar koi aatma... Nahi nahi. Main bhi kaisi paagalon jaisi baatein kar raha hoon. Aatma-watma jaisi koi cheez nahi hoti..."

After a moment...

"Lekin itne saare ajeeb-o-gareeb creatures dekhne ke baad main kaise guarantee de sakta hoon ki aatmayein nahi hoti??"

He pushed Neha lightly and stood up from the sofa quickly...

"Ye... Ye kya kar rahi hai tu?" He tried to snatch the knife from her hands but her grip was strong. "Aur ye...ye chaaku de mujhe... Lag jayega."

Neha let out a loud mocking chuckle...
"Lagane ke liye hi to uthaya hai..." She smirked. "Bahut shauk tha na tujhe bhoot dekhne ka?" She suddenly lunged forward causing Rishi to nearly jump out of his skin. "Le dekh!!"

She started singing in a low, scary voice...

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

How I Wonder What You Are

Up Above The World So High

I'll Stab You and You'll Just... DIE!!!"

The last word was said in a low whisper but the tone was enough to send chills down Rishi's spine...

Rishi was really scared now... He took two steps back and then facing Neha, said angrily...

"D... Dimag kharab ho gaya hai kya tera?" He stared at the television screen. "Movie sar par sawar ho gayi hai kya?"

She started taking slow steps towards him while singing in a low voice...

"O little one,

My little one,

Come with me,

Your life is done.

Forget the future,

Forget the past.

Life is over:

Breathe your last."

With her each step forward, he started taking one step backwards... He said in a warning tone...trying to make his voice sound confident.

"Dekh Neha... Main bol raha hoon. Band kar ye drama aur door reh mujh se..."

But Neha was not listening to him at all... She kept taking steps in his direction and he was taking steps backwards in fear... He stumbled on the sofa and fell on it. He tried to get up and escape but Neha was already standing in front of him, blocking his way...

"N... Ne... Neha... K... kya kar rahi hai..."
He stammered in fear...

"Tujhe bhi apne jaisa banana chahti hoon." Her menacing voice made Rishi shiver to the core...while Neha continued. "Aur iske liye tujhe marna hoga..." She let out another loud, evil laughter...

Rishi tried to stand up from the sofa but Neha pushed him.

"Itni aasani se tujhe jaane nahi doongi."

Rishi tried to compose himself even though he was totally shocked to see the sudden change in Neha's behaviour. His mind was giving him the signal that it might be Neha's prank...but then, Neha was not a person to play pranks on someone. Plus that tenor in her voice... That voice did not belong to Neha. It was definitely someone else.

He decided to give a last try...

"Dekh Neha... Main jaanta hoon tu jaan boojh kar drama kar rahi hai mujhe darane ke liye."

To his surprise as well as utter shock, Neha sat down on her knees and stared directly into his eyes...

"Ye drama nahi hai Bachhe..." She paused for a second. "Sachhai hai..."

A chill ran down Rishi's spine...

He shuddered in fear seeing Neha point the knife towards him. She raised her arm above her head, poised for attack...

"Neha... Tu... tu mujhe maaregi? Main tera bhai hoon Neha..." He said in an almost crying tone.

He wanted to say something else but stopped as Neha stabbed with the knife...

He was not at all ready for this attack so he shouted... "NEHAAAA!!!" and shut his eyes tightly.

Feeling no pain in his body, he opened his eyes after a few moments... He checked himself but did not find any stabbing wound on his body.

He turned his head and saw the knife stabbed in the sofa's arm. Confused, he looked up and saw Neha standing in front of him with her arms crossed over her chest.

Rishi whispered in a shaky voice,"N... Neha..."

He was staring warily at Neha...

Suddenly, Neha burst out laughing shocking him completely. He was surprised by this sudden change in Neha...as if the previous one was not enough to shock him.

He stared at Neha who was still laughing...

Trying to control her laughter, she said,"Kya hua, darr gaya? Chehra to dekh apna... Darr ke maare kaise safed pad gaya hai..." She sat on the sofa and imitated Rishi,"Main tera bhai hoon Neha..."

Trying to control her laughter, she said,"Ise bolte hain acting..."

She burst out laughing again...

Rishi was looking at Neha in complete shock. It took him a few minutes to come out of that shock.

Finally, coming out of his shock, he picked up a cushion and threw it at Neha...

"Neha ki bachhi... I will kill you!!"

Fuming in anger, he threw another cushion at her. "Chhodunga nahi main tujhe aaj!!"

Neha ducked to avoid that cushion.

"Ye koi tareeka hai haan?" He shouted and then mumbled in an almost inaudible voice,"Jaan halak main aa gayi thi meri..."

Neha was trying really hard to suppress her laughter but was finding it really difficult. She burst out laughing yet again remembering Rishi's expressions...

Meanwhile, Rishi sat there facing Neha with angry expressions on his face...

"Achha... Achha... Sorry. Ye pakka first and last prank tha."

She again started laughing but stopped seeing Rishi's angry glare...

"Yaar main bore ho rahi thi... Plus wo horror movie bhi darane ki jagah hansa rahi thi... To maine socha ki ek horror movie yahin dekh lete hain." She looked at him with a slight smirk on her face. "To kaisi lagi meri acting?"

"Teri to... Tujhe to main batata hoon!!"

He grabbed another cushion and began hitting her repeatedly with it.

"Bas kar Rishi... Jaan lega kya?" Neha said trying to stop him.

Suddenly, Rishi remembered something and his hand stopped mid-air...

"Par Neha... Wo teri aawaz? Wo itni ajeeb kaise thi?"

"Wo ek secret hai..." She winked at him. "Aise kaise bata doon?"

"Mat bata... Mujhe bhi koi shauk nahi hai janne ka..."

"Ohh... To mera bhai darr gaya..."

Saying this, she again started giggling which only raised the bar of Rishi's anger who sat there with a grumpy face.

Seeing this, Neha went upto him,"Achha baba, sorry na... Le kaan bhi pakad liye maine." She said while holding her ears. "Promise... Ye first and last prank tha. Pakka."

Rishi was still angry with Neha.

"Nahi... Ab main tere saath koi movie nahi dekhunga."

Neha thought,"Arre baap re... Mazak mehenga pad gaya."

Keeping her voice as sweet as possible she said,"Bola na agli baar nahi karungi... Maan jaa na yaar..."

Rishi pretended to be lost in thoughts and ponder over his decision.

"Huh!! Drama King!!" Neha thought, rolling her eyes.

Finally, Rishi broke his silence after some time.

"Theek hai... Maaf kiya." He continued in an ordering tone. "Ab jaa aur jakar dusare popcorns lekar aa. Ye saare to teri wajah se zameen par gir gaye..."

"To tu ye movie phir se dekhega?"

"Haan dekhunga... Kyon koi samasya hai tujhe?" He glared at her and said in a warning tone,"Dekh, tune bola tha ye first and last prank hai. Ab agar..."

"Achha... Achha theek hai. Laati hoon."

Neha turned and started walking towards the kitchen.

"Aur haan... Popcorn ke saath-saath coffee bhi!!!"

Rishi shouted behind her retreating back.

After her departure, Rishi sat down on the sofa with a sigh of relief... Yes, he was really scared with all this. He took several deep breaths in order to calm down his nerves. Finally, after a minute or two, he got up from the sofa and picked up all the cushions that he had thrown. His eyes caught sight of that knife still stuck in the sofa handle and he again shuddered as that scene again played out in front of his eyes.

He pulled out that knife gingerly and placed it on the centre table... But picked it up after a moment and placed it on the dining table out of sight. Neha was watching all this from the kitchen and giggling silently.

Finally, he sat down on the sofa and started rewinding the CD. But, he stopped and then took out that CD and put another one... An animated movie this time.

Neha who was looking at all this from the kitchen suppressed a giggle and mumbled,"To janab ne movie hi badal di..."

This OS is just a result of my imagination...

To if you guys can't imagine Neha doing any such thing, then kindly don't waste your time trying to do so... Not everyone's crazy like me... 😆
