It means white/pure...my friends find it funny because well....I'm not white đ (they don't mean it in a racist way...they are all first gen like me so we joke around) so actually my grandma named me this and it was because Amithabh Bachchan is her favorite actor so she wanted to name me after his daughter 𤣠and my Dad hates AB...he's a Rajesh Khanna fan...we have constant fan wars in my family over this...but thank god my dad didn't name me...otherwise my name would have been twinkle đ¤Ł

LOL I pronounce my name as Sh-way-ta because that's the easiest pronunciation and that's what my kindergarten teacher called me as since it's the closest pronunciation. So actually it feels odd when someone (usually Indian) says my name correctly because I'm not used to hearing it. My parents call me by a nickname so they don't use my real name anyways

Swetha is more common in the South whereas the spelling Shweta is more common in the North. I've also seen Sweta (one of my future classmates has this spelling...which is going to be weird since I've never been in the same school with someone as the same name as me. Kinda feeling insecure because it's MY name)
