He still has the been continuously getting work and being the husband of Aishwarya puts him in the news.

He seems to be too lazy to put any more than the required effort and it shows. He is bad at emoting and is good only if he has to play a regular character.
In the end, if it isn't working, he should switch his career.
Somehow I feel it has been the other way around. Being a Bachchan bahu (of course besides Cannes) keeps Aishwarya in the news. She had a slump phase in bollywood. She got chances in hollywood movies in prominent roles, but her movies/bad acting didn't obviously click. She would have faded out if not for her pairing with Abhishek which helped her get a few movies, out of which some flopped (Kuch na kaho, Umrao Jaan), Guru did well (though Vidya's role got reduced).
As a person, she holds grievances with many people and didn't even call most industry insiders at her marriage. While Abhishek and Big B keep good relations with most other actors and industry insiders. Right after marriage, despite her flops, she signed up with 4 movie offers, 3 of which flopped. She's still getting movies because of Bachchan tag and their industry connections. She too seems lazy and needs to put more effort in getting good at her craft vs focusing on her identity as a beauty queen onscreen.
So I guess you have to give credit to Abhishek, that even if he is a bad actor, he supports his wife a lot. On a flipside, only Big B seems to be the one steady earning member even at this age!
