Well thats the best part of the above article. I guess this may bring an outstanding change in our daily soap design. I am pretty excited to call on for those shows which will embark on a new journey with a completely new format. Firstly 70-80 episodes afterwards episode limit can be trimmed down. So yay ! 🥳

Yes!

ITV shows, from what I have understood till now, decline in quality because they don't have a fixed time period! Due to which the writers bring in illogical twists and destroy the plot and characters to drag the show infinitely.... Their focus shifts from the theme/plot to draaaaagggggg the show!

There definitely should be a mandatory limit imposed on shows.... Only then the makers will not get haphazard twists and turns, instead focus on the actual plot and come up with new creative concepts as well😛⭐️😎😎😎

If things will go as per given news in above articles, then we can expect some good finite series shows on TV screens and workers will also get their salary. But risk will be there for all of them including actors while shooting shows in this time.

Well Sree risk is even present in even picking up a spoon too i mean workers will have to rejoin for living. But the measures will be taken i think they are pretty well on paper. I just wish good health for the whole cast and crew of everyone.

Talking about finite series, yes i cant wait to try out some shows which will have big actors and good storylines. Finite series should have been started a very long ago then it wouldnt have been so hard to face this situation. But now i think finally its time to say goodbye to all those headache long running epics lol. I want really want to see progressive shows on ITV and seeing them people talking about like we do when we watch a web series.

Exactly and you know what i really salute the idea of this limited series i mean it not only helps actors to take a rest but also they can act to so many new shows whose script will be good, better, best. I think now big ITV channels will have to grow up and will have to understand the situation.

Totally agreed!!

Shows really need to have VARIETY😳

I literally thought my new catchphrase was - not happening anytime soon😆 Seems like I have to take it back😆 And the best part is, I don't mind taking it back coz I actually wanted to do so😆❤️

If this news turns out to be circumstancial... And then channels revert back to their previous nonsense... Let me tell you what will happen: They will be a bad news and a good news (not the movie...lol) !

Bad News: ITV won’t improve it's condition. Period.

Good News: No one will care about it, as they will migrate to other platforms.

I will elaborate in another post (coz I want to end this thread😉😆😆)

How many times have we ever discussed in our life the boring nature of Radio shows when they aren't airing the songs (I have never; I am sure even you guys haven't)??

Or how many times how we discussed how newspapers have not evolved over a number of years with respect to meaningful news (there obviously is, but most is crap!)??

Why?

Because we just don’t care about it anymore. We now have alternatives to those platforms, and even while their quality is bothering, we simply switch to the alternative. So far (for most of the people in India), there is no alternative to TV shows. And thus all they can do is keep getting bothered about the quality of programmes they have been forced to watch.

But…

Have you noticed something - The sudden rise of Stand Up Comedy, YouTube based series, Netflix (or Amazon Prime), and Independent Shows on several Websites & Apps? Their increasing number is an indication of just one thing - People are moving away from TV shows and adopting other sources to get entertained. They are increasingly searching for more meaningful and entertaining content because TV just cant offer them what they are looking for.

And, as it happens in most of the technological shifts, one fine day TV will become obsolete from our daily lives. It may sound crazy right now for TV watchers. But this will happen, and will happen sooner than we expect. And I don't have hope that TV programming experts in India will wake up before the damage gets done. (Except for this news which really sounds good! Jaise kisine kaano mein shehed tapka diya😋😋)

Normally, an episode of an entertaining series on internet, the number of views the show got, increases drastically. And you know before I ever watched an ITV show, the increasing number of views will kept me thinking about what is happening in the Indian entertainment industry and how TV is losing its customers each and every hour of the day.

Therefore,

Warning to ITV:

If a person who is an ITV watcher happens starts watching a series on internet of 15–30 mins (or a movie on Netflix, prime, etc.), it means DANGER TO ITV.

Why??

Because he/she is already starting to replace ITV from his/her daily life. And a person’s TV consumption is reducing by 8–10% for each 20 mins spent online. What will one prefer then? Answer is obvious!

And this will happening at a lightening speed, in each and every city of India!!

Personally I'd say the industry would change a lot more, only if some of these or all of these hopefully accomplished :

1) Instead of 5 days a week, all round the year episodes, bring limited, seasons wise episodes. It adds value to quality, cast and crew altogether. Audience would be following limited episodes with reruns eventually hoping for more seasons.

2) We Deserve Better, than a Ghost-Snake-Memory loss-Love Triangle! All this is just cliché. Writers need to take inspiration from foreign content and even old shows like Malgudi Days which makes us relate to characters, and get us excited for story! ITV really needs to make it happen!!

3) Go global! Take topics like LGBT, Racism, Wars, Economic Depression and make shows that's actually worth watching, enlightening and beaming with knowledge!! If TV shows improve, they will teach a lot more to Indian population than movies, because India is one of most Television owned country I suppose. If most of them watch TV, and there's actual content that makes us learn on what else is going on in the world, we'd eradicate illiteracy way more easily than anything else. Entertainment should become India's strength!!!

Additional point I happened to think of regarding 'Improvement of ITV' while reading a science fiction😆 I am adding points as if it is really gonna happen... But this is good time pass for me when I am done with today's quota of studies😉😆

4) Does crying wife/lady is all we've got? There are so many options like science fictions, Crime, Noir, Political, Dystopia/End-of-the-world, Fantasy (Don't say, we have mythical like naagins, just don't!😳), Musical, Historic Drama or Military drama?

Genre is a gift!!

Even foreign Anime does well!! Why do we have clichéd animated shows? With bad CGI? India is among the LARGEST IT hubs, and we lack something related to graphics? That's shame right there! We seriously are way more talented and hardworking than this. This ‘Anything-will-do’ attitude has to GO!

Haha. No. For a long time from now, OTT services are not a threat to ITV. ITV is still pretty popular among rural folk who generally watch more TV than their urban counterparts. Even in the urban areas, people who watch ITV do it out of routine. So once shows start again, they’d get into that routine.

And then there comes the cost. The cost of OTT is internet cost + subscription cost. Other than Netflix, subscription cost for all other OTTs are pretty reasonable for the average Indian. But internet costs are very high. Internet penetration is still very low compared to TV penetration in India.
No wonder TV actors are paid much more than web actors. This won’t change for a long time now.
