One-year-old boy married to dog in Orissa

Bhubaneswar: Driven by superstition, the family of a one-year-old boy married him off to a dog to keep him free from diseases all his life in Orissa's tribal-dominated Jagatsinghpur district.

The wedding was organised at Munda Sahi of Jagatsinghpur town, only 30 meters away from the district collector's residence.

District Collector Dr PK Meherda said that the incident could be the outcome of the tribal belief.

The infant groom was identified as Sipu, son of Radha Mohan Singh and the six-month-old canine bride was named Moti. The dog was attired in a yellow saree, while the groom was sitting next to her.

A tribal priest performed the rituals in the presence cheering villagers.

Many places we have seen where the superstitious belief has taken a step over the humans.. It has been given a superlative status than that of Human belief and feelings...

How much do you believe these beliefs?

Do you think these beliefs really make wonders and change the life of a person?

What ways do you think you can eradicate these beliefs? Or is there one??

Oh my goodness!😲 I feel really sorry for the boy!

But there have been worse cases, remember the Salem witch trials? Innocent women were burned alive because of superstition😡

Personally, I don't care about Friday the 13th, stepping on a crack in the pavement, a black cat crossing my path.I've had tons of great Friday the 13th's.

No, its a mere coincidence that makes people believe in superstitions. A positive or negative event is not the outcome of a superstition.

What ways do you think you can eradicate these beliefs? Or is there one??

Unfortunately, old habits die hard 😕 Time over successive generations is one way...

I have a question for everyonw: What do you think about astrology superstitions? Like gurus, reading palms, etc?

Just curious😳

Good grief......whatever next.............

As little as possible. Would love to say not at all, but equally dont like to sound so sure.........it's a lawyer's position!😆

I believe FAITH and the POWER OF BELIEF can change the life of a person, quite what it is you have faith in maybe just a placebo - it is when you harness the power of your own conviction that you are formidable and can definitely make things happen.

What ways do you think you can eradicate these beliefs? Or is there one??

Education is the first thing that comes to mind. But it is not by any means effective in eradicating such practices, I'm sure.

This is because superstitions continue to feed off people's fears and insecurities about events or happenings in their lives that they cannot rationalise. So they will live on.......no doubt...

Was it really true...cos in some interview they denied the entire thing... and Big B said "show me the tree which she married" or something 😕 I guess he should have known where the tree was 😆 but if that is true then does her being a manglik really change????

How can they show it? The poor tree must already be dead from the "manglik effect"! 😉😆

I think the belief is that a manglik woman's husband dies very early, so she is married off to an animate object which can absorb the shock of the "Martian" effect, thereby making the human husband safe! 😕

No superstitious beliefs for me 😛
