Ramya Krishnan was also shortlisted? Interesting.

He recalls a scene when his chariot was racing away in the field and it broke down mid-way. “The horses went haywire. I had to jump off the chariot or I would have died,” he says. Dheer was also hit by an arrow near his eye during a fight scene once and had to get surgery for the same.

😳

I was just imagining Pankaj Dheer as Arjun. Seriously these people endured immense physical pain during the show. The other day there was a post where Puneet Issar says that during the final combat, when Duryodhan said all Zor maaro the actor who played Bheem used to attack him with higher strength, he was all in bruises

Although Rupa is better than Ramya if you ask

Was Pankaj Dheer really the first choice for Arjuna? I remember he said in an interview that he felt only Krishna/Arjuna are worth doing in MB. He refused the latter for a moustache? 🤔

Pankaj Dheer would have been equally good as Arjuna.

They all endured a lot during the outdoor shoot. Kudos to them all.

Kudos to the old MBH team to do such a convincing portrayal in those times without much VFX etc available.

They portrayed 10,000+ verses in juy 94 episodes!

Pankaj Dheer's rath accident is scary.

Ramya Krishnan would have been equally good as Draupadi but now Roopa Ganguly has immortalised it.

Pooja Sharma also has done a great job (not easy to step into a legendary role already immortalised by someone else).

Yes even I found this a bit strange especially since Arjun (Firoz khan) adorns a moustache too in the show though he is clean shaved in real life. It seems having moustache was necessary so why would they ask Pankaj Dheer to remove them!) only Krishna Bheem n Balram don't have have those.

Anyhow coming to this show I guess none of the characters has been given less importance. Here Karna is as important as Arjun, Duryodhanis as important as Bheem, Shakuni is as important as Vidur and Dron is as important as Yudhishtir. So no one can actually say that only xyz roles were worth playing

Precisely. Only the Brihannala parts required him to shave off the moustache. From the making video it looks like Karna was the first and the only role he was offered. The makers managed to convince him after he blatantly refused to play Karna.

This show is quite balanced. Though they carefully built it on Bhishma's POV and took creative liberties to show him in almost every episode post his fall, the character never seemed to hog someone else's limelight.
