We analyze the leads, Shravan and Suman a lot. But, their characteristics are shaped by the adults in their life who influence them. So, here is an analysis on the adult characters of EKDV2:
Brigadier Mohan Tiwari aka Daadu
He is strict but a loving person. We see his soft side when he cries for his martyred son. But, his influence on Suman has not been all so positive. He is very judgmental of civilians and this is where Suman also gets that thinking from. They both judge Shravan and don't really try to know him as a person. Daadu is constantly seen degrading civilians. My question to him would be that if civilians are so bad and useless, why did you spend your whole life fighting and protecting them? Maybe, it was never about protecting citizens rather it was about the prestige and power of the army that he wanted. He also treats both of his sons differently. He seems more proud of Vijay and ignores his Ramesh, his civilian son. Another thing, I didn't like was how he exposed Shravan in front of his parents on the first meeting. Yes, I know you are "concerned" about the future generation but he's a useless civilian anyways according to you. Moreover, he is not your child and his parents know what is right/wrong for him. Daadu spoke up in a place, where it was not necessary to speak up. This was just another opportunity for him to show off how much better his army world is. If he truly was concerned about Shravan, he would have tried to talk to him alone later and guide him.
Colonel Vijay Tiwari
He is a pretty positive character who lives by his rules and is a true gentleman. He recognizes that his wife had a major role in his success and he never forgets to thank her for that. But, he also has shortcomings. Devraj was excited about his new contract but Vijay acts all upset and says "Don't mix friendship and business". First, Devraj never took your name to get the contract. He met a person through you who would have ended up interacting with anyways because he does business with the army. This is called networking which is an important part of any job. I'm sure people in the army also network to move ahead in their career. But, here is where Vijay has double standards. He gets upset when his brother loans money from Devraj for his business without telling Vijay. This is a business deal between Ramesh, an independent business owner, and Devraj. Vijay has nothing to do with Ramesh's business then why is he mixing "family/friendship and business" now? Vijay also subconsciously has the mindset of Army > Civilian because he is constantly telling Devraj that we army people this and that as if they are superior in character. It is good to be proud of yourself but don't say it in a way that you sound condescending to others. Devraj might not be in the army but it doesn't mean he doesn't have morals and character. So, this also explains why Suman thinks similarly about civilians since the two most important people in her life think this way.
Anjali Tiwari
She is one of my most favorite characters. She is sweet, gentle, graceful, and understanding. I think Suman's character is more influenced by her mother rather than her father. Suman admires her father and wants to be like him but she is more like her mother, a civilian. She is the only one who never seems to judge Shravan. Even Colonel Vijay is seen supporting Shravan when Devraj gets angry but you can tell that even he judges Shravan. Anjali, a teacher, is used to dealing with students of different personalities and maybe this is why she is not judgmental. Suman has a lot of good qualities from her mom but she failed to this characteristic from her. One scene in particular, I like was when she consoled Subedar's family. It showed how emotionally strong and empathetic she is. In her family, they judge civilians but she is also a civilian who shows that their stereotype is incorrect.
Ramesh & Beena Tiwari
I feel bad for them but at the same time I don't. They reek of insecurity because their own family members treat them as second-class citizens for not being affiliated with the army. Poor Ramesh has asthma! It's not his fault that he couldn't join the army. Even if he didn't have asthma, why is it necessary for him to join the army to have respect? He is a self-employed, independent business owner and that's something to be proud of! The reason I don't feel bad for them is because they never stand up for themselves. Your family treats them this way because you LET them. If you don't stand up for yourself, don't expect anyone else to and sometimes it's your own family that you need to confront. One scene in particular was were Beena was admiring Kavita's golden bangles and pitying herself. Like, Kanchan, it made me angry because you are saying all this to a stranger but can't say it to your own family. Beena is not supporting of her husband and she treats him like trash just like the rest of the family. She even seems a little jealous when she sees Kavita's bangles or when she see's the bond between Vijay-Anjali and thinks to herself why her husband isn't rich or romantic.
Devraj Malhotra
He's a nice guy who's stressed out all the time. He has morals and principles - we see this when he shuts up his business partners when they suggest using cheaper material. But, he also sees himself as "less" compared to Vijay because he is not in the army. I feel like Devraj shows more respect towards Vijay and it is not reciprocated at the same level. His relationship with Shravan is a bit turbulent. Shravan is the kind of kid who rebels even more when you tell him not to do something. Devraj's way of parenting is not effective. He's always seen yelling at him and even raising his hand. He never hits Shravan but we can assume he has been hit before because he flinches. He is very distant with Shravan and not involved in his life like how Vijay and Anjali are involved with Suman. But, he cares a lot for him even if he doesn't show it. We see this when Shravan comes back from his first day and is hurt. But, he is never shown having heart-to-heart conversation with Shravan and trying to understand him.
Kavita Malhotra
She is very funny and bubbly yet very caring and sweet. Interestingly, I think Shravan is also very similar to his mom. He too is full of life and jokes around but at the same time he is fiercely protective and loyal of his loved ones. Kavita is a typical mom who freaks out when her little baby boy get hurt. He is grown up now but she is still a kid for her. She might seem "dumb" at time but she is very intelligent. She picks up on the slight mood changes in her son and knows something is wrong. Even, Shravan seems to underestimate his mother's intelligence. When thing Kavita does wrong is not reprimanding Shravan's mistakes. I'm not saying beat the 🤬 out of him lol but at least make him realize when he does things wrong rather than covering up his mistakes. This makes him think that he can do anything and get away with it. Instead, it is Suman who is doing this for Shravan: teaching him right/wrong. This is supposed to be Kavita and Devraj's job and they failed to do it. Suman is his classmate/future girlfriend and it's not her job to "fix him" or act like his mother. Kavita spoils her son which it's okay to dote on you kid sometimes but you also have the responsibility to teach lessons from your experiences to make sure he grows up to be a good person.
Shravan's Chacha & Chachi (I don't remember their names 😆)
I am not really sure why they are in this show 😆 I don't remember anything about them except "Bhaisaheb ko Mata ka Bulaava Ayaa Tha" (Translation: My brother had an invitation from the goddess to visit her temple) 🤣 But, it seems that Shravan is close to his uncle and actually is similar to him. They both lie and think Devraj is too strict. Again, as an adult you shouldn't be going along with a lie as this sets a bad example. Shravan's chachi is seen talking to his chacha to ask Devraj about the contract. But, his company uses cheaper materials. So, here we see that he has less morals and principles than Devraj and could potentially cheat him in the future for his own betterment. There's not much I can say about these two 😆 I haven't even seen them interact with their daughter, Avni. I think they will have a role in the misunderstanding between the families.
Conclusion
Even though the show focuses on Suvan's relationship with their respective fathers, they are both more similar to their mothers. Suman's mindset about Civilian comes from her Daadu and Father but I think it will change as she becomes closer friends with Shravan. But, will this thinking come back after they have a fallout? I think Shravan will become more serious and responsible after the misunderstanding. He will become into the person his father wanted him to be. Can't wait for the show to come back on air because I am so bored. Sorry if there are any grammar mistakes because I didn't go back and edit lol
