How they won their titles- Information gathering thread

Hi,

This forum has some really nice discussion and information gathering threads. I wanted to start one and I hope you find it worth discussing.

Basically, stories on how Sages, Kings, Warriors or other important people from our epics won their titles. Some titles are there because of the synonyms or names coming from a family ancestor or place they belong to.

To avoid discussion on irrelevant characters, we can discuss only Ramayana characters though I am open to discussing stories behind titles in Mahabharat as well.

I am keeping the list empty for now. feel free to suggest names for the list. Some of these titles' stories we already know but i will still add them to the list.

Vishwamitra- BrahamRishi

Dashratha- Dashratha

Janak- videh

Lakshman- Gudakesh

Personally I find Vishwamitra's story very interesting, this also serves as a proof of the relative fluidity of the caste system at that point!
