Nearing the end of their 12 years exile, one day the Pandavas (all 4 other than Yudi) got attacked by an Yaksha near a pond from which they were trying to drink water. The Yaksha said repeatedly that they will have to answer his questions first & only then they can drink his pond's water. But the younger 4 Pandavas didn't pay heed to this & tried to drink from the pond without answering Yaksha's questions. So the Yaksha killed them one by one. When Yudhishthir reached the scene & tried to drink water he was told the same thing. Yudhishthir actually answers him first. Being satisfied with Yudhishthir's answers, the Yaksha said he will return one of his brothers life back. Whom would Yudhishthir like to choose? At this, Yudhishthir chose Nakul on the logic that he himself was Kunti putra & was alive. One Madri putra needs to be alive too. So he can't choose Bheem or Arjun & he chooses Nakul.

It appears that the Yaksha was actually Lord Yama in disguise & he was just testing Yudhishthir. Being pleased with Yudhishthir's choice, he returned all the Pandavas back to life.

I think SP MB has also showed this. Though they messed up the timeline & showed this to be the first important event in their exile😆

I wonder why SP MB totally skipped the Ghosayatra event😆 That was the first important event in Pandavas' Vanvaas life. But SP doesn't even mention it 😆 To save someone particular's face? 😆

Yes they have shown this but even in BRC MB, this was shown during exile.

During exile, but while they were nearing the end of the exile. LIke...they had to spend 12 years na....when this event happened, they had already spent near about 11 years.

But SP showed it like this happened within few days of the start of their exile.

In Jaya (the book I guess was suggested by you) Pattnaik wrote that the Gandharvas had tied up Karna too along with Dury & Karna felt very humiliated seeing how Arjun defeated the same Gandharvas whom he failed to defeat & then got himself imprisoned by 😆😆 Well...seeing it firsthand must be more humiliating. Can't blame Pattnaik for putting in the extra spice 🤣

DP basically includes almost all folktales (do have a close look at the footnotes) and versions and tries to narrate his tale. He did add spice, but he doesn't pour white milk or blacken out good characters or change their main deeds which I appreciate😆

After the Pandavas went for exile, Duryodhan, Shakuni & Karn come up with a plan to humiliate the Pandavas further & depress them by boasting their own prosperity in front of them. They plan to camp nearby the place Pandavas were living & show off their royal opulence to them. BUT! Duryodhan being Duryodhan, got into fight with the Gandharvas over a lake & the Gandharvas attacked them 😆😆 The Gandharvas defeated the army accompanying Duryodhan & also Shakuni Karn etc & Dury himself and they imprisoned Duryodhan. When Yudhistir got to know about this, he instructed Bheem & Arjun to help Duryodhan (because helping the helpless is dharma & Duryodhan is helpness right now ). Bheem & Arjun reluctantly complied & came to fight the Gandharvas. When they slayed hundreds of Gandharvas. When the Gandharavas saw they might lose, they took hold of Duryodhan & disappeared in sky😆😆 But Arjun had celestial weapons & could even fight with hidden enemies (shabdvedi vaan), so he defeats them anyway & freed the Duryodhan & co and Yudhistir let them go.

Arjun humiliated Karn by upping him in archery & winning over the same Gandharvas who had defeated Karn & Yudhistir humiliated Duryodhan by letting him leave (i.e, showing generosity). So Duryodhan jo karne nikle the....uska ulta karke wapas aaye 😆😆
