A message from Rishi Kapoor’s family

Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.

He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.

He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.

In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force.

He would not have it any other way.

Just read the IF article, its so sad how he wanted to see Ranbir married with children. I’m sure Ranbir will deep down regret not getting married earlier.

I don't think so. Getting married or having kids for your parents' sake is too fcuked up as a concept.

The only thing that Ranbir had to do was be a good son, and that doesn't require him to get married or have kids.

Oh man! Life is so fickle and this year is a proof of that. I’m really scared now.
Loved most of his performances esp in Kapoor & Sons. Watching those films again won’t be the same anymore :(

Two of the finest actors gone in two days. Oh man what they would have done with more time.

Bollywood has some of the finest actors, it is the directors and scriptwriters, who are failing them.

What an exceptionally versatile actor Rishi Kapoor is. His range was amazing. An outspoken, honest human being.

He would have loved to see his son married, all parents do.

Bobby, Khel Khel Mein, Laila Majnu, Prem Rog, Sargam, Ek Chadar MAili Si, Agneepath, so many roles, so many variations and yet each as good as the other.

Bobby was the pioneer in teen romance in bollywood.

While Khel Khel Mein was not similarly a pioneer, it did have one of the best twists in the end.

He was perhaps one the first commercial actors to go for slightly offbeat cinema by doing Ek Chadar Maili Si starring Hema Malini and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

Amol Palekar and Rishi Kapoor were perhaps the only two who withstood Amitabh Bachchan juggernaut in 70 and early 80's.

O hansini from Zehreela Insaan is one of my most favourite songs

But this is just fantastic, song of all youth of all generations.

The guy gave us half a century of entertainment and experience.

Let your Atma have Sadgati Rishi Kapoor. May u attain the moksh.

Rest in eternal peace ❤️

I have a lump the size of a boulder lodged into my throat reading through everyone's devastating posts. He was a brilliant actor and much loved. Praying for his family and loved ones. 😭

What's going on....This year has been devastating. Shock after another shock. I'm in denial mode right now.

No more blunt tweets anymore😢
