Agree with you Shreya,🤗 there was a drastic change from 'those days' to 'these days'!

With changed perspectives towards life and the modern-day viewers' attitudinal behavior, who are preferring to watch an arrogant or aggressive disposition of a MIL and male hero and plotting dils and comic villains .... where are we going in these negative negations of issues in these thought perseverations Shreya? Thought perseveration, all the serial writers are put into a pattern where a person keeps returning to the same limited set of ideas. How long we are waiting to see a happy family based serial like Dekh Bhai Dekh? That famous dialogue --Dekhaaa by Lilliput we used to repeat it many times in our school classrooms. 😊

Even if a serial tries to show something different or like olden days they are forced to turn like other shows due to channel interference, TRP pressure and threat of it going off air. Even a mytho like Karn Sangini was not spared.

Exactly Madz and Juhi.

In the olden days there was no such interference, hence we got masterpieces like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Sarabhai, Buniyaad, Professor Pyarelal, Shaktiman, Hum Paanch, etc. The shows were realistic, relevant, and presented a good outlook towards life. Through comedy, drama, action, etc. they imparted wisdom, addressed stereotypes, and helped people through their daily lives.

Isn't that why these shows have been brought back and are doing so well in terms of TRP today? Why aren't channels showing more reruns of recently ended shows? Why did they go all the way back to the 90s for reruns?

I haven't watched too many of these shows, but now I'm watching them and loving them. I didn't know I could have liked a serious family show like Buniyaad. I don't watch family dramas because of the current landscape, but Buniyaad is so different from that.

Agree with your every word Juhi. Race to get higher ratings spoil the essence of the story , the story becomes a puppet in the hands of the producers which is a deviation from the artistic expression. Adding a commercial angle to the depiction of a story spoils the art in that form, will make it a mere visual!

Nothing like that Ye Un Dino ki baat hai was a great show. Real people real jobs. No over the top dressing.

Well said Shreya. The commercial angle has taken over the serial makers' attention, that was the starting point of the confusion which reigned over the writers' minds and curtailed his freedom to excel in his creativity. That is the main reason for today's' mediocre serials based on unnatural stories.

But one more thing I want to reiterate in this context, we are now fine-tuned to these recent violent depictions of the human weaknesses as their strengths and making the villains as heroes, the grey characters are acceptable to these viewers as normal entities where the truthfulness is considered as weakness.

Agree Shreya, the partition and the related heart-wrenching stories like Buniyad are always a worth watch because such timeless stories help us to understand the trivialities of life in it's roughest form.

Because that was real story of producer couple. Still there are insecure people having problem with heroine wedding dress saying Agrawal wear this and this when Agrawal was clearly fake surname they used. Also they surely have got married in the way of their favourite movies. Ab kya inn logon ke liye vo apni life history badle? Also problem with Naina's attitude which was not like regular TV bahut forgetting Naina is Shashi a real person not a fictional character. I did not watched the show par social media se pata chal hi jaata hai. And if it was fictional Sameer's 2 friends would end up with Naina's cousin and friend. Par aisa nahi hua kyunki vo real story tha.

That day we came across a scene while changing channels. Alia Bart's mom plays an actress. Ger hubby says his family can't accept an actress bahu. It's not surprising kyunki aaj ke zamaane me bhi kisi ko actress nahi chaahiye. Vo to 1947 tha Madhubala, Fearless Nadia ka zamaana. Her character seemed negative to me. Is she really negative or just has grey shades?

I can never watch Chanakya because though he was a good teacher, good planner and good kingmaker he was a chauvinist. He seems to hate women. He said many negative things about women. He made cruel rules for women because of which women's position deteriorated when before that women enjoyed good position. Remember how brutally he killed Durdhara just for an heir. Also according to Chanakya's Chant, he imprisoned his childhood friend who loved him and ruined her entire life due to politics causing her to die early at age 38. Don't know why he thought women bad.

What all I am saying negative is it true or just my misconception?
