If you see nineties movie nearly all the girls who smoked or went for parties were character assasinated. The heroes saved them and they became salwar kameez clad good girls. People took these things lightly then.

Regional jokes and racist statements were much more common.

You can't judge the shows of those times by today's standards

They should have edited rape lines then only. It was annoying to see modern girl turning into salwar kameez girl bit not all movies shown this such as movies of Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman.

Yes many old ads were in English.

Was there any strong reason for english language ads? There were many ads in hindi too. I never knew we had bitter chocolates then too and also fruit flavoured chocolates.

Why they stopped Subha Jalao Shaam Jalao and Donear Oo Yeah ad? It was so good to see instead of that irritating Ghadi detergent ad.

Watched few episodes of Dekh Bhai Dekh. The clothes everyone wore inside the house was we are supposed to wear inside the house instead of wearing heavy clothes, jewelleries and make-up like today's shows. Same with Shrimaan Shrimati and other shows.

The shows back then were simple n not melodramatic.

That's the reason why YUDKBH hai touched the hearts of the eighties n nineties viewers

The ads probably were made in English to also attract elite audience. Can't be sure of it. But many ads were in English

Was DD Metro for rich elites and DD National for middle-class and villagers? That's why different language ads.

DD metro came much later in early nineties I guess, after the satellite channels started making their way.

DD1 was the only channel earlier. The English ads very much aired in DD1

It's not only that. People actually go to work and talk about work. And they all have real jobs. They aren't just "businessmen" who own "businesses" that they can sell at the touch of a button.
