Pihu, I think we've all hit a lull. That's why I hate these live interviews. They can be so teasing ☺️. Also, like everyone on the AT, I'd rather know more about their acting process, the writers' input, the directors POV. I love watching Film Companion, Rajeev Masand etc. interviews (the good ones, of course 😉).

@Meera: I totally agree! 👏

I love the thumri you used in your FF. Kaushiki's voice is heavenly. Here's a modernised version, I also like

I agree!! I watch film companion and rajeev masand interviews too, especially the round tables. Uss se yaad aaya, you should check this out:

I love Zoya Akhtar's filmography. It's weirdly refreshing! She creates a different world in every movie in which the characters are so bold but also vulnerable.

There's also an Insta page called @HumansofCinema and @IndiaFilmProject which share analysis and scripts of different movies. I really like reading those. Maybe you'll like them too!

So, aap bhi shastriya sangeet ki shaukeen hai?? (I am not because I kept learning it after I had completely lost interest just to complete the degree, which I didn't so what was even the point? Anyway, I might just get back to listening these modernized thumris and raags if you and Meera keep sharing it).

And I know it was kind of disappointing because Kunal didn't say 🥔outright, but for some reason, I just can't imagine him saying that at this point in the plot. Even if he did, it wouldn't sound real or genuine. I already think it's a bit of a stretch to expect him to comfort Kuhu if he found out about the pills. He's still extremely attached to Abir that he can't see anything beyond him.

I'll try writing it today only! Let's see if I do!

It wasn't disappointing at all. I actually loved your version of Kunal expressing his love. It was very Kunal. He doesn't know how to say 🥔 and I mean, he doesn't even talk about love in front of Kuhu or rather anyone. He just nods his head when Abir talks about them being in love so I completely get your point about him not being able to outright express his love.

@aqua and Meera: I absolutely loved your collaboration on this HC. Meera, I totally agree with the way you've thought about Kunal -- it makes so much more sense for him to talk about his love than for him to come out and say the words directly to her. I also loved his realisation that he hasn't gained Kuhu's trust; this is what I would absolutely love to see more of. ❤️

@Peace: You are probably right on Kunal getting angry and blocking Kuhu out. If we follow the logical plot from there (assuming Mishti reveals the truth "galati se" as she always does), Kuhu would get the perfect motivation to separate Mishti and Abir as that promo suggested -- Mishti broke my relationship so I'm going to break hers. So yeah, there is definitely a way for the plot to move forward, both from Kunal supporting and not supporting Kuhu in this situation.

I loved that Insta post, and I totally agree with the caption! Kuhu does help him be a better family man. When he fully Meenu ka Munna, she pushed him to stay connected to Abir, and now when he's swung in the opposite direction and is Abir's Nanko, she's there to help him balance in the other direction. Like we talked about a few days ago, if he would just talk to her before taking major decisions, he would save himself a lot of drama.

I am sort of secretly hoping that this break makes all the HCs so real in my head that I no longer have attachment to the actual show 😛 Unfortunately these people have a habit of reeling me back in just when I think I'm properly done.

I love this thumri so much! And I would kill for Kaushiki's voice. She truly has an incredible gift. Since we're geeking out about it, Nina Burmi is another one of my favorites:

The emotion she brings to her singing is absolutely beautiful.

And I'd love for the cast to be able to sit down when all of this is over with a live interviewer on camera, with actual questions that spark dialogue about their work, their journeys, and what they actually think about their character's stories. They've immersed themselves so much in these characters that I' m sure they've done an ample amount of analysis themselves. I think I will actually have a fit if they go back to doing those boring "How well do you know your co-star?" interviews.

Yesssss!!!! I would love to see that!!! That would be so interesting!

So, I had this thought in my head since Kaveri came live on her Instagram after the interview to answer any questions that may have been pending and she is probably planning to come live again, maybe with Rhea or Ritvik but I could see her feeling a bit bored since everyone just wanted her to say 'Hi' to them and not really ask any proper questions. So, I was thinking we could curate a list of questions and send it to her since she actually gives a reply to people. And if she feels up to it, she can answer our queries about the level of involvement the actors actually play in the story. What do you guys think?

Also, I am really conflicted about having this thought because their job is just to act and not answer our queries but these guys seem so accessible because of social media and other platforms that I don't know what is morally right here.

@Meera and Snow: Uff, thank you for making today thumri day on the AT. I have fully gone down a rabbit hole on YouTube following your original suggestions.

@Aqua: I think that is a wonderful idea, and I think it's totally acceptable ethically as long as you make it really clear to her/them that it is entirely up to them whether they want to answer the questions or not. Basically, say to them exactly what you expressed at the end of this post.

I think because this medium isn't taken very seriously, people don't tend to pay attention to the actors, crew, or writers, and the work they do, unlike what you have with film, Rajeev Masand's round tables being a great example. Speaking of RM's round tables, one of my absolute favourites was one he did with break through performers in 2018:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcqLAxz0lsg

They actually had such a beautiful conversation about their craft. At some point, RM asks Vikrant Massey and Pankaj Thripathi about working in television and really betrays how little he knows about the depth and diversity of the medium because he asks when people are going to stop making it all about saas-bahu. Vikrant then goes on to explain that people do try to branch out, but there is very little demand for critically acclaimed shows on GECs -- he cites a show Pankajji did called Powder as an example.

This really struck a chord with me because most of the shows I have followed have been the ones on the fringe of the medium, that are trying to do something different but fall prey to the ratings game. People love to damn Ekta and say she introduced regressive content on TV with the implied argument that if there was something better on offer, people wouldn't watch her shows or shows that follow that pattern. From my experience watching those better offers suffer for being more progressive/complex and invested in their characters and storylines, this is just categorically not true.

All this to say, I think it's about time we start talking about the work that goes into these shows, and taking what they are actually saying, and what connects to the audience way more seriously.

@bold: Hear! Hear!

I am so relieved after having read your reply. It's totally up to them to answer this.

I loved that roundtable as well!! It was so interesting and insightful and so much better than the A-list actor's roundtables. This year's A-list roundtable was much better than the previous ones. They actually talked a lot about their work but if I had to pick a favourite interview from last year, it would be:

https://youtu.be/yzXS2Nj7GVQ

This was so different from the regular ones because they called people from regional cinema as well and it was so interesting to see their take and hear their acting process.

Coming back to the show at hand, can all of you add your questions here only or should I make a separate thread for all forum members? The forum kind of intimidates me a bit so I guess, let's keep it to the AT. If any silent readers or any other members are dropping in, I would say share your questions here as well and I'll add them to the list.
