But from 40-70s may be many were

Like madhubala, meena kumari, mumtaz all came from poor family and started working from young age

Madhuri brothers were in US they do not come from poor family or middle class

Compared to that majority actors were from good enough family like dilip kumar, dev anand, raj kapoor, balraj sahani, jeetendra etc all from well to do rich enough family

Only poor i can think of among actor may be was dharmendra because he worked in some factory for living. That too his father was school teacher so middle class.

In recent times govinda, jackie shroff, anil kapoor all came from small chawls and struggled not rich like other actors

Compared to that all other heroes SRK, amir, salman, sunny deol, ajay devgan, hrithik, tiger, varun all rich family only

Amitabh Bachchan was richest i guess, he came to mumbai with a recommendation letter from indra gandhi. Can you believe a PM recommends you to get a job who shall refuse to give one? Even if you flop they will keep giving you job

In past generations there were literally so many...

I think almost all of the top 70s/80s actresses were from middle class or working class families (Hema Malini, Parveen Babi, Mumtaz, Neetu Singh, Rakhi etc.)

In the 90s as well Sridevi, Madhuri, Juhi, Aish and basically most top actresses came from regular families.

It’s only in the 2000s that nepotism kicked in big time and unconnected actresses became the minority...

Rn it’s just PC, Kat and of course Kangana I think who weren’t super wealthy before they became famous!

It's only recently that starkids started dominating BW. They were there before, but outsiders did get chances.

Yes absolutely for the rest of them but Anushka does come from a very rich army background!

Yeah aside from her far right views and constant rants what really made me lose respect for her is how she pretends she is from some poor village family, claims she never knew any English till she came to BW etc when she is actually from a very well settled, educated upper middle class family

Yes she was talented and also very beautiful...I’ll never get how she didn’t become a top actress!

Female: Katrina, Vidya, Sushmita

Male: Akshay, Anil, Jackie, Mitun

Army families aren’t “rich” at all unless they’ve family money.

Anushka, Ash, Madhuri are all from middle class families.
