Thoughts on Kalki as an actress?

I mean she's the one who is truly underrated, underappreciated and underhyped in truest sense whereas people are busy hyping the so-called underrated and great actresses like Taapsee, Bhumi, Swara et al. They get the undeserved hype which Kalki should've gotten. But she never got her due credit for some reason. She's an actor par excellence. Her performance in Margarita With a Straw is the best piece of acting I've come across by an Indian actress in last 3 decades. That performance alone can put an end to most of the overhyped star-actresses of Hindi Cinema.

Plus she's versatile and has a wide range. She can pull off out & out commercial flicks roles like in YJHD (Her performance had biggest impact on me out of the four leads) and can do Shaitan, DevD, Margarita, Shanghai, That girl in Yellow Boots. Brilliant actress.

Agreed completely. She was robbed off her awards and critical acclaim for Margherita with a Straw. That performance easily beats any performance of that year and could easily give competition to be the most impactful performance of the decade.

YJHD is hyped as a Ranbir-Deepika film but it would not be what it is without Kalki and Adi. Shaitan and Dev D are again some very great performances from her.

And she has one thing which many top actresses today lack i.e. consistency. She always performs even with bad director and plot- for eg. Happy Ending.

If anyone still has some doubts, I would suggest them to watch her stage performances on YouTube.

She got NA special jury for Margarita that's it. But she didn't even get nominated that year in Bollywood award shows. DP walked away with every award that year for Piku 😕

ARK had zero impact on me in YJHD. He had the least interesting character & his acting is a major put-off in every movie as if he's about to doze off any moment. 😆

I personally feel Kalki is a better actress than Radhika Apte.

She's really talented. Margarita with a straw was an astounding piece of work by her.

She was also good in an Emraan Hashmi film -- am forgetting the name. The film didn't make an impact on me, but she did.
