Alia is lucky to be compared to Deepika!

1. Deepika's fan following is exponentially higher than Alia's, if social media is an indicator.

2. Deepika is more versatile than Alia, she excelled in period films as well as girl-next-door, something which Alia can only dream of doing.

3. Deepika has made a name for herself as very few actresses have. Her rise and rise from Om Shanti Om to Chapaak is an unprecented rise in terms of stardom and brand-value.

4. Deepika's screen presence is far better than Alia's.

Considering all the above factors, Alia is lucky that her name is taken along with Deepika's as the top two female superstars. Alia is spunky, exuberant and radiant onscreen as well. But she lacks the popularity and star power that Deepika has.

We have seen Deepika's popularity when she does solo films that rely on her star power. Her fans are delusional.

As said before, context is everything. Chapaak was a film that dealt with a grim subject, trailer was not good, Deepika was shorn of her glam avtar. 5 crore opening(almost) for such a film is not bad at all.

And why talk only of Chapaak? Most of her other films were BB's( excluding Tamasha and Finding Fanny. Tamasha got a 40 crore weekend and then business faltered because the film did not live upto the expectations of most people).

Alia is a far superior actress.

Just on the basis of acting skills ALONE, I would rate Alia slightly higher than Deepika. But that ways, even Abhishek is a better actor than Hrithik. Deepika is a complete package, and that's what works in her favour.

All those blockbusters had a big star, big director with big production house/canvas.

Tamasha had ranbir kapoor.

Finding Fanny relied on her star power and it failed even though it was a fun film.

Piku had Irrfan and Amitabh doing the heavy duty.

I am sorry to say this to u . But poor acting in period films by both. They are limited actresses. Nothing great. Both have tendency to overact.

A comment was made on ormax and that being used as a basis for stardom. No, its not best/most accurate measure of stardom. but it is a measure.

If this is based on a comparison on acting, I would disagree and say that Alia is a better actress.

But if you are arguing about stardom, than it is evident that deepika is a bigger star. She is a bigger star in that her hype level at her peak period is way higher than Alia's today. I am not sure why her fans cant see past that.

Keep in mind, stardom does not mean best or a better actress. stardom takes account of characters and films.

Now you have an actress who has had every opportuntity to be the biggest star in BW. Why is she still compared to certain actresses if she has had every opportunity possible to be successful, as well as every platform/support to show she is the most successful (KWK, awards, etc)...which she is. Shouldnt her "stardom" be leaps and bounds ahead of actresses who are so called beyond peak level? The industry pushing for her as this huge star and the audience showing that same support for her as this huge star are not on level fields. So Based on this...I agree with you as long as we are talking about stardom and not acting.
