Krishna I read this story about Lord Jagannath--Originally posted by: Krishnpriya
💛💛💛💛💛
In Odisha's religious culture, colour yellow is associated with Lord Jagannath, colour green with Goddess Subhadra and colour black with Lord Balabhadra. During the annual chariot festival, each sibling's favourite colour is used to decorate their individual chariots.
Didi, do you know what happened to Krishna's soul after he left his body ? According to Odia legends, he manifested himself as Lord Jagannath.
The Skanda Purana relates King Indradyumna’s quest to find a deity form of Krishna after dreaming of a beautiful blue deity named Nila Madhava. The name describes the sapphire color of the deity: Nila means blue, and Madhava is one of Krishna’s names. King Indradyumna sent messengers in all directions to find Nila Madhava, and a brahmana named Vidyapati returned successfully. He discovered that Vishvavasu, a pig farmer (savara) in a remote tribal village, was secretly worshiping Nila Madhava. When Vidyapati later returned to that place with Indradyumna, however, Nila Madhava was gone. King Indradyumna surrounded the village with his soldiers and arrested Vishvavasu.
Then a voice from the sky proclaimed, “Release the Savara and build a big temple for Me on top of Nila Hill. There you will see Me, not as Nila Madhava, but in a form made of neem wood.”
Nila Madhava promised to appear as wood (daru), and thus He is called Daru-Brahma ("wood-spirit"). Indradyumna waited by the ocean, where the Lord arrived as a giant log floating toward the beach.
Disguised an old man, Vishvakarma, the architect of the demigods, arrived to carve the deities under the condition that he would remain undisturbed for twenty-one days. King Indradyumna consented, and the artist worked behind locked doors. Before the time period was up, however, the noise stopped, and King Indradyumna’s intense curiosity prompted him to open the doors. Vishvakarma had disappeared. In the room, the three deities of Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra looked as if unfinished—without hands or feet—and Indradyumna became greatly perturbed, thinking he had offended the Lord.
That night, Jagannatha spoke to the king in a dream and reassured him, explaining that He was revealing Himself in that form out of His own inconceivable desire, to show the world that He can accept offerings without hands, and move around without feet.
Lord Jagannatha told the king, “Know for sure that My hands and feet are the ornaments of all ornaments, but for your satisfaction, you may give Me gold and silver hands and feet from time to time.”
Devotees now worship the same “unfinished” forms of Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra in Puri and in temples around the world.
A very interesting story it is Krishna.😊

Do you need praise in words? How can I?? No one on earth will be able to praise the flow of light, no one who knows the real meaning of the word wisdom will be able to praise your worth as a writer, no one in her life will end praising you and admiring you till her end for this masterpiece of writing. Two cheers and three hugs while bestowing the best writer award in this RK forum!!👏👏👏
I wish the cvs read this once in their lifetime, I hope they never meddle with the divinity of Goddesses in such a meaningless way in any other serial!!
I honestly don't know what to say Didi. Don't know how to express my heartfelt gratitude. I'm overwhelmed to receive so much praise from someone like you. Thank you is all i can say. You are so down to earth and so generous. These are not mere words to me. I'll keep these in my heart's memory vault. So happy so humbled. Eternally grateful. 🙏🏼
Har koi aapki tarif kar rahi hai. Par main nehi karoongi. Pata hai kyun? Kyunki maine ekbar kar diya. Woh main dohra nehi sakti. Aur usse achha tarif main nehi kar sakti.
Dhanyavaad Sakhi.❤ Aap bina kuchh kahe hi bahut kuchh keh jaati hain. XOXO

Yes Didi this is the very famous story regarding the origin of Lord Jagannath. In Odisha, Lord Jagannath is worshipped with his siblings Balram and Subhadra. Lord Krishna is worshipped with Radha. Such flexibility is a rare sight. Didi, the place where the sabara worshipped Lord Krishna's soul is still there. It is often called second Puri. One can only imagine how back in those days Vishvavasu managed to travel and worship in that dense forest. Even to this day that place is pretty dense. Have you been to Puri Didi ?
Didi, did Vyasa mention anything about Krishna in his works after he left his mortal body ? Also Didi what are your views on Lord Vishnu's 10th avatar ? Do you believe someday Lord Kalki will manifest himself ? Sorry for so many questions. Couldn't help my curiosity.😳

I can only bow my head to this literary magnum opus ! 😌
Was this an ode to the nature by the great poet ?
Or an ode to his beloved ?
Or was it an elegy to his dear someone ?

To: "Sundar, Mama Antaratama",
The beautiful one who resides within us.
The poet himself is a lake of tears and his deity is the newly bloomed lotus.
