Thank god my parents are supportive. my mom used to bicker about aise mat bolo, loudly mat bolo, dhang se baitho , act like a girl n bla bla.. I used to tell her mom let me be myself,,

the thing was I was a tom boy as my dad brought me up like his son.. he was tough with me n made me independent. he never ever let anyone say arey ladki hai isse naa hoga..

One aunty used to come at my grandpa's to clebrate the makasankranti / kite flying fest.

Once she told me that kitni moti ho gayi hai tu, ladkiya itni moti achhi nahi dikhti.. ladka nahi milega.. n I was like who the hell are you to say this to me..

Maine pyaar se bola ki main apne maa baap ka khaati hoon naah, aap toh nahi aati khilaane .. aapka kya jaata hai ,main moti hoon ya patli..n dare she spoke another word..

I told my mom about it ki saala ghar humaara , family humaara woh hai kaun bolne wali..😆

Main Rudy ke jaisi hoon..

Dheet hoon .. hum nahi sudhrenge... aapko nahi pasand toh yaa toh apna raasta badlo , ya apni soch..😆

My mum is super supportive. Dad is strict but not to an extent which is stifling. I’m their only daughter so I’m kinda the girly-girl who was pampered and given a lot of freedom to choose my profession and everything else.

I remember once an aunty told me, “itna padhkar kya fayda, baad mein rotiyan hi toh daalni hai” and I was so furious that I actually had tears in my eyes. I went all “main itna kama loongi that I can hire house help and get anything else that i would like”

After that instance, aunty always makes the meanest expression when she spots me

The saddest thing is when older women try pulling young girls down and are vindictive as hell for NO reason.

Good girl is a synonym to spineless doormat and no thanks, I don't aspire to be that.

Manvi was a 'good girl' 🤣

They literally make “feminist” sound like a bad word 😡

Being a doormat doesn’t feature on my aspirational list as well 👯‍♀️

That’s why I love the sanki Maya!

Okk I read the first para and thought, I have to bold this and write----same here.....but then I read the next and was like----- cool needda bold this too.

Now I have read the whole thing and how the hell did you narrate my whole life and the 'me'.

Even the bodyshaming part ( though I didn't use to reply back then but my resting B face did a damn well job ) is true.

Mom too once used to be a bit like you said but she has really developed her mindset with time and can even be called a feminist now.

Even in the today's fiasco, neither of them interfered or asked me to accept the shit or anything. They acted like they were not present.

People have stupidest things in their mind..

Seriously jo chalta aa raha hai wohi aage bhinchalega kya? Everything has an expiry dates then why not this patriarchy.. ladki ho toh yehi karna hai bas ghar pe baitho n rotiyaan banao..

I got that dialogue from a relative.. I told her that main hi kyun?? I will find a guy who knows cooking..Agar main job karungi toh mera pati bhi banaayega khaana.. why only I have to cook??😆

N my hubs do cook when I am tired or if he feels to cook something.

I was always the “rebellious” and “spoilt” girl who always gave her opinion and took shit from no one. I can’t stand people who are out to slander your character for the smallest of things.

You can live your life in any which way you deem fit and would never hear me judge you.

Everyone thinks I’m crazy (defended some relative in her absence without even meeting her and she was way older than me in this ladies gathering for her “affair”), but I just don’t care.

Same. I too have always been rebellious but a silent rebel who does whatever the hell she wants (including racing trains in a bicycle 😆) while keeping peace. I have always used my brains to maintain peace in shitty situations but now that seems like unnecessary effort and it's not worth it !!!! Specially patriarchy and discrimination like homophobia or racism touches my nerve very quickly nowadays.
