Sadly that’s the truth of TRP system. A mere 30k idiot boxes determine which show is no. 1 in an audience base of 1 billion.

Although i cant completely trust the user but he/she said something which i never heard before.

Misleading info. Star India had expressed that BARC is not complete since the sampling is not enough. It was told in a different context. The head was talking about increasing viewership on Hotstar.

The fact that TV viewers are around 740 million whereas total Hotstar viewers are not more than 200 million is enough to show that no matter what ranking a show gets on Hotstar, it’s TV viewership is much bigger than Hotstar viewership.

Star never said that it doesn’t value TV viewership. All it said was BARC is not complete. There might be vested interests behind such a statement because such a suspicion was raised only after StarPlus began getting lower ratings than Zee and Colors while it never questioned the system when BARC put StarPlus at No.1

For an advertiser, all that matters is BARC TRP.
