Yup after a long long long time Sid seemed like a genuine friend to me. Probably after that conversation with Asim infront of the main gate after their first fight when they both discussed the issues they had with each other and were fully vulnerable, especially touching for two alpha type 'strong' men who have aggressive instincts to have that conversation. That was the last time Shukla felt human to me lol.
Chahe ya nachahe (game kelie ho ya natural, probably a combination of the two) Sana and Sid have become extremely attached with (and maybe even more importantly, used to) each other. Its a really f**ked up, toxic relationship with an imbalanced power dynamic and completely incompatible personalities - one is a controlling dictator egomaniac and the other is a social free-spirit who cannot be caged by one person. They both know that this relationship (or whatever it is) is doomed. Still, it was sweet of Shukla to take this step and explain to her that he's a phone-call away.
Sana's extremely huge hunger for attention probably has to do with some childhood attention-related trauma, so she would be the type of person to fall into self-harm issues since she already has a tendency to blame and hit herself. Also, Shukla is not dumb, he knows how these reality TV shows work. In fact, I'm confident he had a non-eviction clause in his contract. (otherwise, they would evict and bring him back a week later for all the violence, especially after the 3rd/4th time) So somewhere Shukla knows exactly how biased this show is. And he must also know that all the attention Salman/guests/rigged audiences have showered over Sana is manufactured, and just following a narrative written by the channel for the season to have its story. So maybe he was also kahee na kahee trying to bring her back down to earth and the journey is coming to an end. Interestingly, the press conference did the same thing but in a much more difficult and indigestible way.
