Why is Deepika's skin lightening mocked?

Mastaani was supposed to be fair skinned so Deepika lightened her skin tone. When other actors like Vidya or Aamir change their body or put on weight for their characters they are celebrated.

Then why is Deepika mocked and insulted for doing the same?

Plus she looks better with lighter skin tone and probably prefers it because she has mostly dated fair men except Ranveer. So why insult her for her preference?

Doing it for Mastani was alright. But she is doing it even now.

The starkids & some others are mocked for getting tons of surgeries as well. Deepika's skin lightening is somewhat similar to that.

Maybe she prefers lighter skin so what? It's just a preference. Plus she has the money and resource to do it safely under proper medical guidance.

I feel most of the people who mock her would also love to get it done if they had the resources. Because in our country light skin is more preferred!
