Both had 7 clean success each, ash had 2 top grossers one being all time grosser Dhoom 2 as the main lead actress and Rani had none. Flops affected Rani but it didn’t affect ash who was still getting big movies but after marriage and giving birth to baby she took long break away from limelight.

Question asked was whether Aishwarya was a superstar between 2000-2008?

I said, she did not have any hits between 2002 to 2006. Interpret as whatever you want. Everyone survived for the entire decade. But they tasted success in a window period.

But she definitely had more hits (many other actresses had it too) than Kareena (before she started taking flowerpot roles).

You guys really need to check facts:

Devdas released in 2002 and it was a hit

Khakee realsed in 2004 was sucessful as well

Bride & Prejudice - didnt work in India, but was successful worldwide.

Dhoom 2 also released in 2006. Which was a blockbuster

Also she had Raincoat, Chokar Bali in this time period - two of her most appreciated performances.

Thanks.

Even with no big hits, Aishwarya still ruled the first half of 2003. The Devdas buzz was still super high. She was winning all the awards in January/February. She was rumoured to be doing Farah Khan's debut and Yash Chopra's next, both opposite SRK.

Dil Ka Rishta and Kuch Naa Kaho kept her on the charts and on TV screens throughout the year. So even though Rani + Preity had "hits", Aish was still seen as the first choice for all the best roles. Karisma had retired, so Aish also became the permanent go-to blue-eyed girl of the moment.

In 2005, with 1 song, she made more ways than Rani in Bunty Aur Babli.

Even when Aish was blacklisted by Salman/SRK/Kjo/Yrf she still was the biggest female star of the decade. Rani's 2004-2005 was undeniably the strongest couple of years by any actress of the decade, but as a whole 10-year analysis, her stardom stands second to Aishwarya Rai.

How conveniently people forget that lol

Even Rani tasted disastrous 3 years after 2006 to 2009, no one talks about that and in period 2006 to 2008 aish gave 3 big hits, dhoom 2 alltime grosser where she had big length of screen time as her heroes, Guru and Jhoda Akbhar having titular role, her bad phase was 2003 to 2005 and she came back 2006 to 2008. So whole decade taken into account not just 2 good years.

KANK was not a hit in India it was average to above average success and was a big hit in overseas. Rani was declared No.1 in 2005, before that she gave hits in 2003 and 2004 but was still 3rd ord 2nd in actress ranking because Ash big big hits like Devdas, Mohabbatein HDAPH was strong enough to keep her no.1 till 2004, Rani was declared no.1 in 2005 and she was number 1 in 2006 and 2007 and 2008 kareena was declared number. Rani was no.1 3 years, Ash was number 1 4 years, Karishma 1 year and Kareena 2 years the whole decade into consideration ash was decades no.1 actress weather we want to agree or deny.

I'd vouch for AIshwarya because we have to take into consideration that opportunities were SNATCHED from her. She was thrown out of several big movies. Just imagine if she did those movies, she would've been even more iconic!

Its very easy to deliver a hit and stay relevant.....whats difficult is sustaining while going through failure!

I know there was kareena Kapoor but she got the credit late in her career, most of the movie being a male dominated movie, but aish was the central character in her biggest hits, HDDCS, Devdas, Mohabhatein, Taal, Dhoom 2, Jhodha Akhbar Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai

@bold though she was central character in almost all of them but somehow somebody else took away the cake. Her acting in all of them(most of them actually? was below par and least talked about.

🤣

Puhlease. She was... the taller/slightly thinner one? She had the energy to perform the number, but her mudras and body coordination were not a patch on Madhuri's flawless grace, especially in the first part of the number.
