I think the Rishikesh track is Maya's plan to stop RuAn wedding. There were posts about upcoming scene dialogues where Rudra finds out from Nandini that Maya has left home. So I think he follows her to Rishikesh as per Mayas plan and voila we will get MayRa wedding and romance

Why would they go to rishikesh to marry.. or did maya run away to rishikesh and Rudra follows her to pursue her.. or do they marry then go

Anyways this wedding track for for Rudra to realise his love for Maya and for Maya her love will be only realised when she will be on track with her plan to kill Rudra.. then she will have to choose between killing off her love that she always dreamt off or embracing it and accepting it..
