"This friendship has to see its end today."

Her words crushed the last hope he had. Her message in the evening had unsettled him. She had to be kidding him, he was sure back then, but he still could not stay calm after reading her message. He had called her up to meet, and say that to him on his face. He knew she wouldn't be able to and would put a full stop to the prank if that was one but now, it no longer seemed a prank. Her tone screamed the seriousness of her words.

"Why?" Stepping forward, his hand reached out, curling his fingers around her wrist.

"I am sorry."

That was it? His eyes looked down when she set her hand free from his hold and then at her. She never got off his hold on her own. That was when, it hit him that it wasn't any joke and his heart started palpitating.

"Prerna, what's wrong? You are scaring me now."

She turned, not willing to face him hearing his shaky voice. She intertwined the fingers of her both hands to control the tremors that had already increased their intensity.

"You wanted to hear it from me and I said it. Bye, Anurag." Those were her last words of that night.

She did not turn back.

She did not wait to hear him.

She left from there.

She just left.

"Stay," he mumbled staring at her retreating back, before he let his knees give up. He wasn't able to accept what had just happened.

She marked the end of their friendship. Just like that?

She left. Just like that?

"Prerna..." He looked up, after several minutes, and gazed at the place where she was standing earlier. Tears streamed from his eyes, as he lost the entire control on himself.

Their friendship saw its end that day.

The most beautiful friendship he ever had in his life!
