Ayushmann and Kartik have a long way to go.

LMAO, are you seriously going to compare a low budget film like Dream Girl to a huge commericial film like Sanju (which is a RAJU HIRANI film who has 100% success rate) and War, another BIG budget commercial film with a SUPERSTAR in it?? Kabir Singh which was already a huge south film. And LOL @ Shahid being put into the same space as Ranbir, Ranveer, Ayushman, etc. when he debut in 2003. He should be compared to Hrithik.

Anyways, Ayushman isn't a commercial hero. He more or less sticks to low budget scripts. So this comparison is strange. Let's wait until he does a big budget commercial film like Sanju, Kalank, Padmavat, etc.

If War opened big only because of Hrithik, then Sanju also opened big because it was based on Sanjay Dutt

You can’t pick on one thing and ignore the other. Take both movies out of the equation

Wasn't Kalank the biggest opener of Varun & Alia? Also if I am not wrong PPAW is Kartik's biggest opening now.

Kalank opened bigger than Judwaa 2 No ??

An I still give War's credit 50/50 each. Before S30 Hrithik had not had a good couple of years. BB & Kaabil underperformed. MHJD failed historically. I wont even get into Krrish 3's box office. Whether Krrish 3 made 244 or 170 that was nearly 7 years ago and that was the last Hrithik movie to make more than Tiger's Baaghi 2. They didnt come into War as equals but the gap wasnt big IMHO.

Maybe some actors this year can get break WAR

I think Sanju and War should be out of this comparison. WAR wouldn't have looked the way it did if not for HR. IMO, if War had HR + Vidyut then it would have probably still done very similar business, may be couple of crores less. But replace HR with someone else (except Khans) then probably the movie would have done 20-25 cr on opening day or max 30 cr.

Tiger showed his potential with Baaghi 2 (action genre + good promotion) and that should be the movie for comparison

Ranbir - YJHD or ADHM is a better movie to take into consideration

I just compared their biggest opening day collections. Ab Sala wo big budget movie se ho ya low budget movie se ho, humko ghanta farak nahi padta. And it's not just me comparing Ayushmann with other commercial heroes. But there are people who compare him with Ranbir and Ranveer. So this thread was for them.

Btw, War's opening credit can't be solely given to Hrithik. Before War, Hrithik too was struggling with openings. His last film Super 30 opened to 11 Crores. His biggest opener was Bang Bang which opened to 24 Crores. Baaghi 2 also opened in the same range of 25 Crores. War would've never done 50 Crores in day 1 without the help of 🐅.

I've never seen people giving credit to the original film for the opening of remake. So what if it was huge South film? The movie was new for the bollywood audience. Isn't Simmba also a remake of Temper? Why didn't you call out that movie then? It's only in the case of Kabir Singh because people have no other excuse to take away credit from Shahid.

Also Shahid is there because he's also part of Gen Y.
