My theory here is that when MJ’s presence in any which way, lurks around her, she takes several steps backwards and retreats in her shell.

The photocopy scene was when MJ wasn’t active and that was when she got a little comfortable with Rudra. But for the past two days, MJ struck viciously and now all her efforts are concentrated on defeating him.
