JD is 'Maharathi' of Gujarati community

Producer-actor JD Majethia has added another feather to his cap, after he was conferred with the title of 'Maharathi' of the Gujarati community at a function held in Mumbai recently.

The actor-cum-producer got acknowledged for making a big contribution to Gujarati cinema and theatre along with the television industry.

JD Majethia says, "This award is equivalent to a Lifetime achievement award and last year Paresh Rawal was presented this prestigious title."

JD Majethia who has been promoting Gujarati culture in most of his soaps has taken Gujarati culture a notch higher. Especially in the past few months, by launching five new soaps and enlightening people about this vibrant segment and their culture since years, Majethia has brought about a change in the way Gujaratis are perceived now.

Yes, I agree.

I am Gujarati, and there are typical customs which are found exclusively in Gujarat, but talking in general terms all the moral values found in Gujarat are part of our Indian culture (more precisely the Vedic culture)(Veda is eternal knowledge, not a religion).

But yes one point needs to be said about why Gujarati people tend to be more moral and religious than other Indians. That is because of the society in Guj. Alcohol is banned, cow slaughter is banned, men don't dare to see over unknown women, whereas in Mumbai night life is hell, drunk men do all sorts of things.

So things are changing now and moral values are declining in India. However, these values are conserved in Gujarat due to good laws.

I am proud of JD. I like the way he portrays gujarati culture through his shows. The way he uses gujarati tunes in his shows is very appreciable. Others instead use 'dingchak' tunes which shows a diversion to western culture. ..And by giving the gujarati touch to his shows, his shows appear even more beautiful. Take the example of khichdi, bbb, jjjkjf. The blend of various communities in epu is also good..
