I thought Chhapaak being a hit will prove why she is the female superstar?

Chhapaak will be Hit because of WOM. If Deepika fans claim that she's the female Superstar then she'll have to give Blockbusters on the level of Khans and Hrithik. Otherwise sustain for 30 years in bollywood like Akshay and Ajay. Aise hi Superstar ka tag nahi milta.

People have been saying for months that Chhapaak will be Deepika’s test. Now you are telling me WOM will make it a hit? If opening is good then it’s stardom not WOM. WOM makes the movie sustain and take effect only after release so Chhapaak is her test.

On Bockbusters talk, you have to ask filmmaker to give women commercial movies before you can compare it to the masala the men do. I don’t see said men doing niche movies like Piku. The comparison is simply unfair. We have to judge women with what they are being given which are small movies only. It’s not the same category, obviously if you give Kat or PC or DP a masala, obviously you can say there’s equality and you can compare them to khan. When we talk about female superstar it’s not about the Khan, that’s unfair comparison, it’s how big they are in their own space and DP is big, if Chhapaak is a hit then no actress will come close

So what's your parameter of "good opening"? For me its 20 Crores. If the opening is below that then she's not a Superstar for me. Remember that the Khans are giving 30 Crore+ opening over the years. So 20 Crores is not asking to be on their level. As for filmmakers not making women oriented masala movies, that's not an excuse. If women are not getting equal opportunities, tough luck, but that doesn't allow me to call them Superstars out of pity.

Also I never said that Chhapak will be Deepika's test. So you're barking up the wrong 🌲. I know that if the movie Flops or even takes a 5 Chores opening, she and her fans will hide behind "experimental film, niche film, dark subject etc etc ".

But it’s a niche film. is that a lie whatsoever? Even Salman Khan cannot give 20cr opening these days with Masala, Good news opened 18cr and you expect a small movie like Chhapaak which has no blockbuster song, no funny subject to open 20cr. that’s impossible even if you bring the biggest superstar in the country. Take opening of such movie among actresses, she just has to beat 11cr and her stardom won’t be questioned anymore.

you are not calling them superstar out of pity. They are superstar in their own space. You are not comparing them to the men, you are comparing them to the same pool of skills. Just like you cannot compare Bollywood to Hollywood. There’s no set definition of a superstar, Sridevi was a superstar but sorry she wasn’t giving BB like Salman either.

this is a regular thing for both DeepVeer...... rest all are hailed after one or two hits, but DeepVeer have to give their acid test during every release.....😆

@blue : oh dont worry, her piku / chapaak will be easily compared to bajrangi bhaijaan and such movies to prove how the female leads of those movies have more stardom...

^^ Bhai, Akki and Kareena got 17 Cr opening and you want DP to give 20 Cr opening. This is such an abuse of FOE

Superstar meaning prove for 30 years? Madhuri and Sri didn't need to prove for so long. Superstardom is from performance of last 2-3 movies and PV was 300Cr movie.

It isn't a lie. It's an excuse. An excuse to save Deepika from her stardom getting exposed. Doesn't matter if the opening of the film is 5 Crores, or whether the film is a Flop. Her fans can easily blame it on the subject and genre.

Art house actors like Irrfan Khan and Manoj Bajpai also don't do masala films. Their films depend on WOM. They are doing well on their own space, giving reasonable openings for the type of films they are doing but no one calls them Superstars. So Deepika ain't getting an excuse because she's a woman.

Also Salman and Akshay have consistently given big openings. So one film opening low doesn't change anything. They are universally accepted as Superstars. Not like Deepika who is doing a film to prove her Superstar status.

And no need to compare Deepika and Sridevi to prove a point. They are from different eras. The male counterparts of Sridevi which are Sunny Deol and Sanjay Dutt were also not giving back to back blockbusters. Those days the films used to run for months in theaters so everything depended on WOM. Nowadays the lifetime collections of films are decided on first weekend itself. So films are much more dependent on lead actor's stardom.

Edit : Isn't Deepika hailed as a Superstar by using the collections of SRK movies OSO, CE and HNY? And Brahmastra is supposed to be Rk's acid test even though he had blockbuster with Sanju. DeepVeer fans really love to play victim 💳.😆

Also Padmaavat didn't cross 300 Crores and was Blockbuster because of various factors.

Lmao how is that excuse? It’s a fact, backed up with stats. There’s no way a niche movie can open at 20 Cr, if you have any fact or example where a niche movie opened with 20 Cr then be my guess.

I have also never compared Deepika to the khans. She is bigger than people in her pool. It is as simple as that. I am not expecting Chhapaak to do such big numbers, again it’s close to impossible even if you put SRK in the movie. It’s just the type of movie, it was never for the mass so why is the comparison? Last niche movie was TSIP which opened with 2 cr before that Sonam opened 2 cr as well. I think 10 cr + will be fantastic for the type of movie and it has absolutely nothing to do with Deepika. I am trying to be realistic here. Well the gap between men and women in general, the difference in opportunities and everything is another debate I do not want to engage on. If you think women and men are equally treated in the industry then it’s too bad.
