I know promos are highly misleading, so I try not to get too invested but this line just pissed me off to no end and I just had to run here and vent lol
One of the country's top 5 most successful director/producers comes to you, a 26 year old nobody, (as he remembers from 3 months ago) and tells you "You want to work in the industry after this, right?"
This is not advice.
This is a THREAT.
In fact, this is the VERY SAME threat Shukla was making outside the smoking room, just delivered in a sweet way.
Rohit Shetty is known for 2 things: shitty movies (that make bank!) and for being extremely well connected in entertainment. He is super involved in TV, judges talent shows all the time, hosts Fear Factor, is buddies with Dharma (which makes him a bridge to class movies outside his own mass movies), and is now one of the very few sure-shot "star director"-cum-hitmakers in the country alongside Karan Johar and Bhansali (AT THAT LEVEL - of course, at a lower budget/higher content level there are lots more). In fact, with his expanding cop universe (where rumors are a female cop - maybe Deepika - will be added next), his success is on the rise and he STILL hasn't peaked! This guy is/will continue to be legitimately one of the most powerful men in Indian entertainment outside of channel heads and production house CEOs/casting agents. Is he just filling in for Salman and reading off a script? Probably. But is he a guy you want to be on TV defying, especially considering you are an ambitious guy with a newly earned fanbase that you have no idea how big/strong it is? Absolutely not.
It break my heart to say this, because Asim was on his way to becoming probably the best contestant in the history of Bigg Boss to completely be isolated not just in the house, but by the show ITSELF, and come out as a winner (at least #2). But at this point, if I were him, I would give in, make fake peace with Shukla and just get through the month and a half with as little jhamela as possible. 😔
Life is long, the show is manipulated, and you gotta do what you gotta do. Bigg Boss is 3-4 months. You gotta look out for the next 30-40 years. I'm still hoping somewhere deep that he is braver than I would be, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't blame him even one iota if he cools off and disappears now. He is popular enough & good at tasks to hit the top 5 already, anyway. Plus, I also have a feeling the channel will reward him if he plays along with other reality shows, maybe even hosting gigs or other Voot/Viacom projects/live shows/MTV shows type opportunities. Looks like they are really, at the cost of the entire world knowing their game, going to push a violent misogynistic sl*t-shaming bully as their hero, afterall.
