I think , keeping aside the monster heartless Karan , he is in dire need of reaction from preeta. May be he wants to get scolded or wants a confession or anything but unintentionally and subconsciously he wants that undivided attention of preeta like early days.

And absolutely no-one can make him realise this but preeta. Solely because whether we like it or not, Karan is only effected by preeta. Only she has that power to strip him out of his skin and crawl inside. Not even rishabh effects him this much. That's the reason why even he failed to make Karan see what he has done in the pretext of his badla.
And as far as rishabh preeta are concerned, I think they both are deliberately made the perfect match and have been shown subtly that they indeed deserve each other. That's one of the reasons why Karan is stooped so low. It doesn't look like preeta is ever going to forgive him. Because she for one, will never believe even if Karan confesses his love and secondly preeta has indeed lost all the respect for him.
And this respect is what the basis of rishabh and preeta 's relationship.
Everytime I watch it , the only problem visible between them is, that whenever its time to confess, both of them say the opposite , get frustrated on each other and again start bickering that I do , he/she doesnt so I also wont . Both r utter fools ...the closest preeta came to making her feelings obvious to him was their .marriage day and it again went to square one later...in thr last 1 or whatever year, I have seen this only ..in thr mall also he is asking her "you are jealous of mahira, you came to stop my engagement " and she said no. Same with him..the plot isnt moving from here..
