Except you don't have to qualify to get into a school. Every child deserves the best education.

But you have to qualify to get into a movie. It runs on merit. So only the one who gives the best audition gets the role.

It's not so difficult to understand.

What is really telling in this post is all the resentment some people show a child! doing a school activity just like millions of kids around the world do. It is disturbing but not surprising to read how much hatred and envy is conveyed and how people are quick to blame even those who had no choice in the life that GOD send them to live. This is disturbing not because of the lucky ones like this little darling but it is disturbing because the same hatred is shown to those who are assigned a life with a handicap or in painful circumstances. Hate mongers and frustrated people are extreme in all circumstances.

I wish her and all children the best and I hope their parents instill in them a sense of duty, responsibility and care for nation and fellow humans.

So I don’t quite understand your comment. Of course one can still be petty in an online forum thread. Jesus, I didn’t realise that being petty was only reserved for face to face interactions. Also you lost me there with the whole Lata reference. Let me deconstruct it. Are you asking if it is only appropriate to comment (or criticise) a child if you are a kid as well? Well, no. If another child is being critical or judgemental towards another peer, then they are bullies 😊.

Also may I add that yes, in this kind of scenario where the child (my new favourite word apparently) is trying to do something positive, the only acceptably humane response would be to display a POSITIVE opinion to ENCOURAGE & BUILD self-esteem. Everyone is welcome to having an opinion but just because you’re entitled to one, doesn’t make it right either.

If anyone is feeling directly victimised by my opinion that criticising a kid trying to do good is PETTY - well if the shoe fits, it ain’t my problem.

What? You do have to qualify...What are the entrance exams for? And what is all the conversation about the deserving students not getting their due because all the best seats are taken either by the reserved candidates or the children of the influential people? Nepotism is not just limited to the Bollywood...What even!

There's a difference. You have to pass/be eligible by qualifying with a minimum cutoff - as in if you are going to study in class five, you have to have the basic knowledge required to understand the classes.

As opposed to auditions, in which you have to be better than anyone else who applied for the job to get the role.

Regarding donations/capitation fees paid by rich/influential people, it is illegal and punishable by law. So if it happens, it is wrong.

Dhirubhai Ambani International School is a top rated school and almost all of its students come from influential and rich families and they get best of the education compared to their contemporaries simply because they come from a certain background....If this is not Nepotism, what is?

Anyone is free to apply to DAIS. LKG fees runs into lakhs. Not many people can apply.

What you're talking about is not nepotism.

It is privilege.

^Let me make the distinction even more clear.

A star kid having gone to New York Film Academy, attending an audition in a BMW -- over an ordinary person who probably learnt acting through plays in school/hometown, and attends an audition by bus or by foot. That is privilege.

But once they enter the audition, their acceptance/rejection should only be judged based on their performance, not on any other external factors. If whose son/daughter they are factors into why they get the job, that is nepotism.

Like in school, if Aaradhya is given top marks only because she is so and so's daughter, and not because she actually performed the best, that again is nepotism.

Privilege, Nepotism - just the offshoots of each other, same difference! Depends on which way you want to slice it!
