It’s overrated. Wasn’t that good. The whole thing is revealed midway but of course you know that can’t be it. The pace was also slow.

2 things you look in a thriller mystery is thrill and suspense and both were lacking here.

Andha dhun is much better. Even old Akshay Khiladi movies are really good.

Hollywood goo bhi produce karegi toh hum wah wah kahenge. Kya goo hain maza agaya 😂

There was another thriller murder on the last express, another goo 😉

It was an amazing movie...I was actually thinking the same, my bhabhi and her friends were saying that (they are are tam and mallu) that they can see this type of movie being made in the south but never in BW.

I realized one thing, other than the points already raised which misplaced priorities of monies towards stars than on writers, which is very true, BW does not “think”...there is so much money that everyone’s bottom line is getting piece of that pot..quantity had trumped quality.

To pull off a “crime thriller” genre, there needs to be space for intelligent makers and producers. Producers is there is audience and makers if there are producers....

An average Indian does not place as much importance to intellectual stimulation...I don’t want to generalize 🙂 but this is why BW which does not give importance to writers and even only those that can churn out hits..,producers are not tickled by intelligent stuff, they want stuff that sells, and average cinema goers wants a dabang, a WAR, very very average stuf,,,no layering, no complexity....

IT finally comes down to us, we may be the highest production of movies, we may have been here for a long time, but as an audience I am sorry to say only a section is really evolving...look around this forum...I think you will have your answer.

Of course change is coming, but this level of change or different or parallel cinema or good movies in midst of mindless entertainment was always there...Andhadhun is not the first movie of its maker, I have watched every movie he has made, and all of them have been good but not all have struck the pot. We must be able to celebrate good movies even if they don’t do good business....wish there was a space for sleeper hits, cult movies ...thank god for OTT platforms..but even there who knows slowly quantity may trump quality

Bollywood has been making great content movies for the past 3 years. Most of the hit movies the past 3 years worked because of their content, not because of the stars in them.

And you said the average cinema goers want a dabang, a WAR. THat s also true for Hollywood. The big blockbuster movies in hollywood are also big action movies.

Andhadhun was the closest in terms of humor and the plot twists and turns.

I am in fact taking a step further and saying we have always had good content movies...but as long as average producer, viewer will only discuss how much movie makes, then quality and intelligence will diminish...there is enough audience to create industry for intelligent content...No one other than BW talks about 100 core...no one...like that is the minimum standard for a movie..it’s frankly sad. The content intelligent movies don’t need to make 100 crores to make money, they just need to be in the movie halls longer and that is end of the day our responsibility too as audience. If we are an intelligent audience we need to back them up better...instead of waiting and watching on lappy.

I don’t watch much of Hollywood action or comic hero stuff but imho there is a difference between a Hollywood average and a Bollywood average. ...somehow our average we don’t arise above larger than life hero, simpering heroine and caricatured villain... we just don’t...
