No, you misunderstood. 😆 Perfect as in not perfect man, woman etc. Perfect as in perfect characterisation. Rest whatever you said makes perfect sense. MJ isn't perfect at all, and that makes the writing absolutely perfect. If he'd done what you described, that would have made him a better husband and would have gone a step further in achieving perfection as a human being (consoling his wife) but he didn't do that, and that's why his egoistic, self-obsessed self comes to the fore. I was in essence complimenting the writing.
