Flashback 2017: Why did Meri Pyaari Bindu flop?

Meri Pyaari Bindu is one of those few rom-coms in recent times which made me laugh, cry and go in for repeat viewing. The songs were excellent, the relationship between the two protagonists delineated extremely well, and the messaging beautiful -- that you can't always have what you want, yet life goes on. The acting was also effective - both Ayushman and Parineeti in top form. I think this movie was really nice overall.

Why did the film flop?

Because others didnt receive it that way

Coz it was a bad film.

Didn't it release very close to Baahubali 2 like 1 or 2 weeks after that? It would have been difficult to survive against juggernaut like Baahubali. Even otherwise, the film had a weird marketing. They didn't had any proper trailer and rather released 3-4 short teasers to show what the film was about. Also, Ayushmann wasn't the star he is today so it didn't had strong star appeal.

Bad for those who like conventional love stories and happy endings.

Not all good films do well and not all bad films flop.

The thing is in India if a film does not do well then it is labelled a bad film. Such an easy thing to say. For ex: Swades is a great film but a huge flop, so I guess it is a and film? Andaz Apna Apna was a flop so that's bad film too. Many more examples. Salman's bad movies do well so I guess those are good film?

I wasnt talking about the commerce of the film..for me it was a bad film...

Coz it was a boring pointless snoozefest.

it was boring..plus it had parineeti back being totally mechanical and her doing 'filmy' acting..it was a torture to bear her even though she hardly had a role..mostly appeared in flashbacks

ayushman was not the ayushman he is today..nonetheless..he was the only good part of this snoozefest
