Police failed at their work at first and then this encounter. Only if they had done their duty, she would have been alive.

And I hope people remember this as a precedent of what mass hysteria for capital punishment and social media trials can lead to. But as far as I can predict, they will all take it to be a good precedent.

As a woman I feel they deserved bone-chilling torture and even celebrate the encounter. But then rationality kicks in and I see how scary this celebration is. Staged encounters should never become the norm because if they do, policemen may pick up random men and gun them down to save the actual culprits. The judiciary exists for a reason. We can't participate in the blatant disregard of a major pillar of this country.

I maintain that a man who violates someone else's human rights can't claim those rights for his own self. But fair trials exist to ensure that innocents aren't punished and justice is served. Staged encounters and blind mob justice can't replace it.

Celebrations paint a scary picture and show us that the common man's faith in the judiciary and the police is dying. If this continues, the doom is nearer.

It's time to speed up judicial reforms to restore the common man's faith in the judiciary. The nation will crumble without the latter.

The situation would have been different if Police responded immediately when Disha's sister went for lodging an FIR . I don't know if i am supposed to be happy or sad. It's like government and police are trying to save their face. Bus strikes happened in the state recently and the encounter brought the good will to the party after so much contempt from the people. I do think the police meant well, as the person who encountered the 4 accused members in this case also encountered the accused for an acid attack in 2009.

This would be a relief to the family though. As they don't have to circle around courts to bring justice to their daughter. I can go on and on about how street lights, cctv cameras and police patrolling need to be increased, how education is must for every one and how police need to be responsible and not blame the girl for missing cases but it's not going to help a thing if the government treats us as a mere vote banks .

definitely not supporting fake encounters but but these are the crimes which deserve harshest punishments. Why are everyone thinking these can be innocent? They are definitely not innocent. The same people who are saying system shouldn't work like this and follow the procedure also want quick justice in such cases through court. Take for example Nirbhaya case it is going no where. following law and procedure takes very long time. Justice delayed is justice denied. Many rape cases don't even get capital punishments or lifetime punishments in India. The longest period served in jail is 14 years. By the time case is resolved and judgment delivered they have already served their time and are free to go. And lawyers come up with stupidest loopholes to save the criminals. The accused are already saying that they did it in inebriated state (which will be considered by court later) but yet they planned it for 3 hours and waited for her to come back. One of the minor's father is repeating like a parrot saying his son is only 17 and law must save him. Watch those videos. This is not just any case this is violation of a woman and cut short her life ruthlessly.

That's why I said there's an urgent need for judicial reforms in the country. The public doesn't trust the institutions of justice and given the status quo of things, we can't blame them.

as it is already mentioned by the other member it is truly relief to the family. It is no joke, I am from the same state and everyday travelling through public transport and past few days i have heard many discussing this case. One man says nothing happens without 50% fault of the girl. Another women says two hands are needed for claps so it is her fault too. Hearing all this as an outsider is being hard for me, think of the family what they are going through. Again rape and terrorism are crimes which are done for no reason except to fulfill their desires and these deserve harshest punishments.
