I want to quote a very different perspective. In every species, parents are supposed to be the nurturers, providers and caregivers. They are wired with the protective gene, which is because of the propagation of species and averting any danger that comes to the children. Why only humans? You would see this in any animal species. Likewise, you'd see a Veena with a fierce protectiveness to her children which includes Prerna too. Mothers often come across selfish, even when it means to subdue the HAPPINESS of their offspring. Reason? Very simple, for them, HAPPINESS is not MORE IMPORTANT than PROTECTION AND SURVIVAL. Hence, Veena was absolutely against Anupre MARRIAGE even before that track. Her sensors had sensed her daughter or child being humiliated, pushed around- READ PHYSICAL POSSIBLE THREAT.

So, Veena behaving a certain way is the MOTHER'S INSTINCT!

On the contrary, you'd see most of the children not caring much about the parents. They might do it out of compassion, but the biological obligation is not there. It's the law of nature. The young thrive, leaving behind the old, non-reproductive parents to find MATES!

Prerna was SELFLESS till the time she found her probable mate and her parents did matter to her till that time. Her insane love for Anurag drives her. Pregnancy also has to CONTRIBUTE to it. Women look for compelling paternal investment. As long as Anurag comes back to her and the baby, she was even ready to let him sexually consummate with another woman!

During the Bajaj track too, she was driven by love, but her maternal instinct basic biology of yearning for Male paternal investment did bring her closer to Rishabh. She started to admire Bajaj- the father. Somewhere, at the back of her mind, she could see him as a sense of security and a daunting father-an ideal male paternal investment in her child.

Anyway, coming back to the TOPIC. Prerna's characterisation is SUBJECTIVE SELFLESSNESS. Her Selfless stems from her COMPULSIVE INSTINCT OF BEING WITH ANURAG SOMEDAY!

Parents will not matter to her anymore. That's why you must have seen parents being abandoned in REAL life too. Basic BIOLOGY!

I partially agree with u..about veena ..but not about prerna and biology..this ..what u just mentioned happens ..yes..its nature.. but here the issue is , how many of us ignore our parents getting insulted by our in laws ? I wanna ask every girl reading this..will you let it happen ? Will you ignore it even if it's coming from the family of the person you love the most in this whole world ? Will you not at least feel bad about it ONCE? What's veenas fault in all this ? Isnt her daughter is selfish of the highest order to not think about her mothers insults and happily dream about her lover ?

Coming to your your questions in BOLD. There are many of us who would raise our voices against this BS. But, I have seen many women behave just like Prerna. Why? Because of reasons of keeping their family intact in Sasural. I have seen them taking those consults. I have seen such families too.

There’s no fault of Veena. She has by far been very self righteous and does shower Anyrag with love and respect too despite whatever his family has done to them.

That’s why my major disconnect with this DIVINE love. You can keep loving but self respect and the respect of the family comes too if you are shown to be do SELFLESS!

I know piu..I know she is selfish...I dont deny that..and I also dont deny that women do adjust , keep quiet , ignore n do everything to maintain peace between in laws and her parents..my point is , she doesnt feel bad also?

I am not too comfortable with sharing this but as an example, I accidentally overheard my in laws talking about my parents , some issue which I cant share..since that day I didnt allow my parents in my sasural...to avoid any further issues...I didnt complain to my in laws ..I just informed my husband ...

Here prerna made sure veena comes to bb..why? For a damn party ?..how difficult is it to convince anurag otherwise ? Veena isnt any less...she knows her daughter loves to play their favourite football yet challenging them that they wont see the face of their grandchild ..useless...

i don't think that prerna ever loved her mother...she's more loyal to basus..even though some of them treats her like shit...she loves anurag...like a obsessive lover...zero self respect for herself..i know one thing for sure that once anurag regain his memory, she will ditch her family and runs to basu badi...badh mein gya uska khud ka parivaar...yeh kis tarah ka pyaar hai...jisme aap apne parivaar ko hi bhool jayo...i don't know what ekta is trying to achieve with this shitty storyline...she has ruined an epic show...i hope she never remakes her another shows...

Charu, thank you for sharing your personal experience. It takes courage to do that, and I am proud of whatever you deemed appropriate. That's my biggest pet peeve with this show and in real life too is how we, as women are made to believe that our existence is DEPENDANT ON A MAN, OUR IN-LAWS and we are being TOLD, its a GREAT thing to ADJUST. No, it's NOT! Women shouldn't adjust. Mutual understanding is great but letting the family trample over your family is undoubtedly NOT okay. I have watched many EPISODES where Prerna has FORCED Veena to kneel at the Basu Bari. Why? My question, exactly. You CHOSE TO LOVE Anurag that CONSUMINGLY, So why INVOLVE your family in it. Bow your head in BASU BARI as much as you want to. LET YOUR PARENTS STAY AWAY!

Trust me, when Prerna got to know about Mohini falsely IMPLICATING her mother, had I been subjected to something like I would have walked OUT! Any day. I say this because I have LOVED someone to the level of insanity and still DO! But, my parents and their respect will always be separate from that love!

Tum Anurag ko Nahi Bul Sakti, but at last, let your mother breathe!!!
