Chapter 10 B
âMaaaâŚâ
Rishabh froze in his spot as he heard his daughterâs voice for the first time but the next second he also heard Prerna yell in pain as she rolled down the stairs, he immediately rushed to her and he sat on his knees, he lifted her body half on his making her rest in his lap
âRishabhâŚbohut dard ho rahaâŚâ
âItâs okay⌠you are fine⌠kuch nahi hua hai⌠sab theek haiâŚâ
âMaaâŚâ
Kukki screamed from the corner of the room as she heard her motherâs yelp and ran to her parents, she cried seeing her mother in so much pain, Rishabh looked at Veena and gestured her to hold Kukki, he knew he couldnât handle both of them together right now, he lifted Prerna in his arms as Veena took Kukki in a tight embrace and tried to calm her down as she followed them outside the house

Rishabh drove like a manic and cover the distance to the nearest hospital, he tried to stay as calm as he could while Prerna whimpered in pain.
âKuch nahi hoga Jaan.. I wonât let anything happen to you and our babyâŚâ
He kept repeating the same sentence like a mantra and assure Prerna, with every minute her pain kept increasing and so did Rishabhâs guilt
âI told you my birthday is jinxed⌠har saal kuch na kuch hota haiâŚâ
âRishabh⌠stop this nonsense⌠I am already in pain âŚ.â
Prerna scolded him in spite of being in immense pain, Rishabh would always be mad at her for blaming herself for anything and everything wrong that happened, and today he was doing the same thing, she knew that he was scared for her and the baby but he had no reason to feel guilty about being scared for them or blame his birthday jinx for this unfortunate accident
They reached the hospital in 10 mins time and Rishabh scooped Prerna in his arms once again, he ignored the ward-boys who had pulled a stretcher for Prerna and walked staright to the reception
âI need a Doctor now âŚâ
He ordered the receptionist who looked too scared of him right now as she summoned a doctor. Rishabh kept phasing in the passage as the doctor checked on Prerna, right after five minutes Veena arrived with Kukki along Anurag, he rushed to Veena and hugged her tightly
âItâs all because of me Maa⌠I promised her that Iâll take good care of her yet this accident happened and in spite of being there I couldnât do anything to save her⌠sab meri galti haiâŚâ
Rishabh broke down in Veenaâs embrace, much to everyoneâs shock no one ever thought that the Ruthless Rishabh Bajaj could be so vulnerable
âNahi beta⌠tumhari koi galti nahi hai⌠hum sab wahan the⌠toh apne aap par ilzaam mat lagaoâŚâ
âNo Maa⌠it was my responsibility to protect herâŚâ
He cried like a kid in Veenaâs arms and she tried her best to console him, she looked at Kukki who sobbed in a corner
âAgar tum iss tarah tut jaoge toh Kukki ko kon sambhalega?â
Veena tried her last and best shot to calm Rishabh, he broke the hug and looked at his daughter who was equally scared as him, he rushed to her and hugged her close to his chest
âYour Mamma and baby brother are going to be alrightâŚâ
Rishabh said in a broken voice, he was not sure if he was trying to console Kukki or himself by his words, Kukki looked up as the rest of Basu's arrived with Anupam, she broke the hug caught Rishabhâs hand in her tiny one
âPapa⌠unhone Mamma ko push kiyaâŚâ
Kukki said in an angry tone and pointed towards the person who was responsible for her motherâs this condition, everyone was shocked when they realised that Kukki was pointing towards Mohini Basu, Rishabh fumed in anger as he realised that this was not an accident but a planned attempt to harm his wife and their child. He fisted his free palm to control his anger, he was about to confront Mohini when a loud slap echoed through the passage of the hospital, it was a second shock in just minutes for everyone as Veena slapped Mohini
âHow dare youâŚâ
Mohini said through gritted teeth but Veena cut her mid-sentence
âAapki himmat kaise hui humari beti ke saath aisa karne ki? Kya bigada hai Prerna ne aapka? Aapko uske aur Anurag ke rishte se aitraaz tha na⌠uss rishte ko tute mahine ho chuke hain toh kyun aap humari beti ke peeche padi hain? Abh kyun uski khushiyan cheena chahti hain?â
âKyunki ussne mere bete se uski khushiyaan cheeni hai... â
Mohini walked to Anurag who was standing in shock, trying to register the fact that his own mother had tried to hurt the girl whom he still loved
âJab se tumhari beti mere bete ki life main aai hai sirf takleef di hai usse⌠usse chodne ke baad bhi Prerna ne usse dard dena nahi choda...shadi ke baad apne pati ke saath humare ghar aa gai.. Dekha hai maine, mere Anu ke aankhon main vo pain, lekin kuch nahi kar sakti thi⌠mere bete se pyaar ka dava karti thi lekin apni life main itna easily move on kar liya ussne.. Mahino se dekh rahi hun ki mere bete ko tumhari beti aur damad ke wajah se kitni takleef hui hai⌠vahi takleef unhe bhi dena chahti thi⌠aur aaj mujhe muka mila ki main vo kar sakunâŚaur mujhe iss baat ka koi guilt nahi hai ..â
Veena was fuming in anger by now, she didnât know what had taken over her right now, she walked to Mohini and slapped her once again, she knew that this woman hated her daughter but she didnât know that her hatred was so strong that she tried to harm not only Prerna but also her unborn child, Anurag was trying to absorb everything that his mother had just said
âMere wajah se aapne Prerna ko hurt karne ki koshsih ki? Maa aap janti hain ki vo mere liye kya mayne rakhti hai phir bhiâŚâ
âIssliye toh yeh kiya Anu⌠uske pyaar main tum apne aap ko dard de rahe the aur vo apni life main khushiyan mana rahi thi⌠main bas vahi dard usse dena chahti thi jo ussen tumhe diya haiâŚâ
Mohini tried to justify her actions once again, Anurag realised that somewhere he had to be blamed for her actions too, if he would have handled Prerna and Rishabhâs marriage in a better way maybe his mother wouldnât have acted out like this today.
âMr. Bajaj..â
The doctor came out of the room brining a halt to their on going drama and everyone rushed to him
âDoctor, how is my wife and our child⌠vo theek hai na?â
Rishabh asked him with urgency in his voice
âActually Mr. Bajaj⌠your wife went into premature labour, we tried doing a normal delivery but she fainted due to exhaustion⌠we will have to do a c-section immediatelyâŚAap please jald se jald decision le lijiye, as soon as you sign the form we will begin the procedure..â
The doctor spoke hesitantly when he saw Rishabhâs eyes grow wide in anger at his words, and handed him the consent form, Rishabh signed it without wasting a second, he knew that time was crucial right now, he took a step closer to the doctor and handed him the form
âThough I have signed the form, if anything happens to my wife or my child⌠I wouldnât spare a second in destroying your career and this damn hospital of yoursâŚâ
Rishabh said in a calm yet dangerous voice, the doctor gulped in fear and just gave him a small nod and rushed to start the procedure for Prernaâs delivery, as soon as the doctor left Rishabh walked towards Mohini
âKisi ne sach hi kaha tha ki insaan apni barbadi khud likhta hai...I warned you time and again to stay away from my wife, yet aaj aap ke wajah se meri wife aur humara bacha dono danger main hain⌠mahino pehle apke bete ne bhi mujh pe personal attack kiya by snatching the house that belonged to my daughter and aaj aapne mujhse aur Prerna se humari khushi cheene ki koshish ki, uss waqt Prerna ke kehne ke maine aap sabko chod diya tha but now even if she tells me to do so I wonât⌠you are going to pay for your deed Mrs. Mohini BasuâŚâ
The fire in his eyes said it all, everyone in the room knew that Rishabh was going to adhere to his words, though Mohini was scared of his rage she didnât let it reflect on her face, Anurag was too ashamed to retort to Rishabh and Veena felt proud of her son in law, she wanted Mohini to be punished for once and for all.

While Prerna was being operated, Rishabh had called the police to arrest Mohini in attempt to murder of his wife and their unborn child, he was suprised that neither Anurag nor anyone else from the family tried to stop him or the police from arresting Mohini, once the police took her they all left the hospital too.
Rishabh patted his foot nervously as he waited outside the operation theatre, Veena had taken Kukki along with her to the temple right outside the hospital to pray for Prerna, he kept staring at the red bulb and as soon as it turned green he rushed to the door but halted in his tracks when he saw a nurse come out of the room with his son in her hands, his hands shivered a little as he took his son in hands for the first time, once again his eyes welled up but this time with joy
âWe are shifting your wife in the private room, it should take 5-10 mins..â
All Rishabh did was nod at her, he was too busy adoring his son to reply to her, he recalled the moment when he had picked Kukki in his arms for the first time, he felt happy and anxious at the same time, he couldnât believe that he was actually living this moment again
âThank you for coming in our lives Little oneâŚâ
Rishabh whispered to the baby while planting a kiss on his cheek and chuckled as he earned a tiny smile in return, he kept cooing his son till the nurse came back to informed him that he could meet Prerna now. He entered her room and saw how exhausted she looked right now, he didnât want to disturb her but Prerna had already woken up when she sensed his presence, she shifted on her bed and gestured him to come and sit next to her, Rishabh obliged her demand and made himself comfortable next to her.
Prerna looked at their son and smiled through her tears, Rishabh asked her to extend her arms to hold the baby but she nodded her head negatively
âWhat if I am not able to hold him properly? Gir gaya toh?â
âDonât worry.. Main hoon naâŚâ
Nervously Prerna placed her one hand under the babyâs head and the other one under his knees, Rishabh placed his hands under hers and she became a little more confident while holding their son, but as soon as the baby started crying she got nervous again. Rishabh took the baby in his arms and cooed it, the baby stopped crying almost instantly
âHuh⌠he has already decided that he loves you more than me.. Mere paas aake rone laga aur aapke paas aate hi chup ho gaya..â
âHmm⌠now you know how I feel about Kukki loving you more than meâŚâ
âAap aisa kaise bol sakte ho? Kukki hum dono ko equally pyaar karti hai..â
âI know⌠but humara beta mujhe aapse jyada pyaar karta haiâŚâ
Rishabh shrugged his arms and teased her while rocking the baby in his arms, Prernaâs mouth fell agape listening to his words. She was about to counter him but her mother walked in the room with Kukki who ran to her parents and her little brother
âYeeee⌠I have a little brotherâŚâ
Kukki came near the bed and looked at the baby in wonder, she wanted to touch the baby but was too scared to do so, she glanced at her parents and once she received a nod from them she hesitantly touched his cheek, the baby smiled at her touch
âWow Kukki⌠apke touch se baby ne smile kiya⌠vo aapko already bohut like karta haiâŚâ
Prerna said in a soft voice, her words made Kukkiâs eyes lit up with joy, Veena walked towards them and Rishabh gestured her to hold the baby but as soon as he extended his arms the baby started crying, making Rishabh hold him close to his chest once again and as he did so, the baby immediately stopped crying
âLagta hai isse apne Papa ki hi godh pasand haiâŚâ
Veena said in a teasing yet adoring tone, Rishabh smiled at her words but Prerna frowned at her mother, they spent a few more minutes together before Veena decided to take a leave
âHum ghar jake tum dono ke liye kuch kahne ko leke aate hai.. Kukki beta aap bhi chalo, hum change karke wapas aa jayengeâŚâ
Kukki kissed her baby brother on his cheek before following her Nani outside the room, once they left the room Rishabh looked at the baby who had fallen asleep in his arms and kissed him on his forehead before laying him in the crib and went back to sit next to his wife, Prerna made herself comfortable by resting her head on his chest, they enjoyed the silence for a few minutes before Prerna decided to break it
âMaine kaha tha na, iss baar apka birthday jinx hum break kar dengeâŚâ
âYeah, but you didnât have to scare me for that⌠aapko koi idea hai main kitna darr gaya tha?â
Prerna looked at his face and saw the fearful expression, she knew that he wasnât lying
âLekin sab theek hogaya na⌠aur dekho⌠humare bete ne bhi aaj hi ka din choose kiya humari life main aane ke liyeâŚâ
She said in an attempt to make him smile and it worked, Rishabh pulled her in a side hug
âThank you for giving me the best gift on my birthdayâŚâ
He broke the hug and captured her lips in his kissing her softly but they had to keep it short as their son started crying once again, Rishabh left his wifeâs side to calm his son
âWaah⌠Bete ke aate hi meri importance kam hogiâŚâ
Prerna complained to Rishabh making him roll his eyes at her
âShhh⌠Papa yahin haiâŚâ
Rishabh hugged the baby to his chest and rocked him back to sleep, Prerna kept adoring the duo, she smiled as she witnessed the moment, though she was teasing Rishabh she couldnât deny that she was grateful to him for loving their son so much, she knew that he would always protect and love him like his own.
âRishabh⌠baby ka naam kya rakhen?â
Prerna asked him as he as he walked back to her with their son in his hands
âSocha hai na⌠Prem..â
He sat next to her and wrapped his one arm around her once again as he explained to her why he chose this particular name
âJab se baby ke aane ki news mili thi humari life main bohut sare changes aaye, we became friends and then we fell in love with each other⌠hum aaj jo bhi bond share karte hain vo humare bete ke aane wajah se hi hai.. Toh jo bacha humari life main itna sara pyaar leke aaya hai usske naam toh Prem hi hona chahiye naâŚâ
Prerna smiled at him and nodded her head in agreement, her eyes welled up after listening to his words
âPrerm⌠the symbol of our love and affectionâŚâ
Rishabh claimed her lips once again and poured all the love that he could in that one kiss, making a silent promise to her to love and protect her and their baby throughout their lives. As they broke the kiss, Prerna rested her head on his chest once again, Rishabh savoured this moment of holding his wife in one arm and their son in the other, his wife was right, not only did his birthday jinx end this year, but this also became his most memorable birthday.

Seriously beautiful update.... Although you started it by painđĄ....the ending made it all worthwhile..... So Chalo jaao maaf kiya..... So Mohini Basu is the culprit here... Iss geheno Ki dukaan ke paas aur Koi kaam waam nahi tha KyađĄ.... At least she reached her correct place now, jail.....
