If she genuinely wants to work in Hollywood, it's not bad to make efforts in good standing, even if noting is coming your way.

might be good for her. maybe she'll actually understand what it means to be an outsider and struggle. not having things handed to her constantly. I would love to see her successful in HW, but srsly just being practical. It's a different ball game all together, and something she clearly is not used to.

What connect with Indian-Americans? I'm one myself and I don't know anyone who cares about her. Most desis prefer other BW actors over her. If they were interested in her, The Sky is Pink wouldn't have been such a disaster in the US in spite of all the promotions she did on every talk show.

Anyway, lead movie roles are always tough to get and Alia would have just as good or bad a chance as anyone else. It depends on being in the right place at the right time, being liked during auditions, and getting lucky enough to get cast in the right project.

I actually think she has a chance if she goes for Indie movies. Coming of age is exactly her cup of tea. So basically an immigrant coming of age wala story might work for her.

Nina Dobrevv being so well known and loved by the public has not achieved much after TVD, Alia being a stranger to the American public without any attraction has 0 opportunities. She isn't sexy or exotic like Hallee Berry, Gal or Jessicaa Alba to attract their attention, She is sooo simple, nothing to offer.

I am too. I live in the states and was born and raised in the US. Are you serious? Indians do talk about her. At least people in my generation do. Well obvi, Indians will treat her and her films like the sky is pink like any other bollywood film. It is not a "hollywood" film.

There is a connect indian americans, second generation ones atleast have with actors. How did lily singh get so popular? Its because people connect with her. If priyanka was not culturally aware of how americans think, and did not conform to how they talk, etc...she would not connect with not only indian americans but americans in general. So it matters. Deepika is a huge star in india, why is she not successful in the US? Part of it is connect not with just indian americans, but with americans in general.

But I agree with you on being at the right place and right time. If she gives a good audition, then yes she could potentially get a great film. But to sustain and really cultivate popularity in the US, there needs to be something off screen about you that keeps the audience over there interested in you. The audience there is not the same as the audience in india!

Priyanka’s popularity in the U.S. is highly overblown in India. TV actors generally are as popular as their shows and often fall victim to out of sight out of mind once their shows are done. PC’s marriage to Nick Jonas gave her fame longevity. She’s also very confident and uninhibited and uses her opportunities wisely. But still, she’s not able to get meaningful roles in Hollywood.

Alia gives off this vibe that she wants a big breakthrough role that will get her massive critical praise, phenomenal popularity, and then an Oscar as the cherry on top. IMO the odds of her getting the lead in any feature film are slim to none. Indian audiences are not enough to make a movie a financial success so she’s not gonna get a role that might go to an Emma Watson or a Kristen Stewart. Her best shot is to settle for a sidekick role and hope to build her way up. But that requires auditions, staying in Los Angeles for a long period of time (2-3 years at least) and lots of patience. I don’t think she’s willing to do that. I think she just wants the PR headlines of having a Hollywood agent and the “bragging” opportunity of I said no to movies in Hollywood.

Alia probably not going to get a lead role in major Hollywood picture. Her best bet is either do a indie movie and help to get noticed.

I think alia just wants to get her foot into the Hollywood world, deepika only did xXx which was an ensemble, she hasnt done another Hollywood role but it gave her many other opportunities like going to the MET gala, being on the cover of international magazines etc. So I think alia could be looking for any role that gets her the kind of international exposure that PC and dp have, I dont think she wants a long career in Hollywood

But she does want that Oscar, or at least has this dream of winning one. She won’t get that with just a cover and a Met gala appearance. Also the MET Gala and an international cover only further raised Deepika’s profile in India. It didn’t do anything for her in Hollywood or with the American public. She’s even less popular than PC here in America.
