Exactly. It has actually nothing to do with looks, I feel. The hollywood market is not ready for foreign actors/actresses to be main leads of their films, period. And even if they did, why would they take alia if they never fully embraced deepika/priyanka who have a huge desi following in the west? Contrary to popular opinion, I think Priyanka was quite successful with sustaining an ABC show for 3 seasons. She also has made quite a connect with indian americans. He rrelationship with Nick also keeps her in the public eye. Does Alia even have this ability? I dont think so.

I feel so bad, because I really think she will do anything for an Oscar. But unfortunately she is not in the time period as of now where this will happen for her. She should try her shots in the future , by future I mean like 10 years.

It also comes down to same thing jn Bollywood but more amplified: how much shit are you willing to put up with and how talented are you.

The acting styles are quite different in HW and BW, and PC gets that and tries to emulate Hollywood including her accent.

I will be shocked if Alia can do any of that. She hasn’t had to put up with a lot thanks to Papa Jo, and her talent is so sub par, shell need a whole new persona and fountain of talent to make do.

Actually there is a huge misconception here as to how the west works. Alia has equal chances as Deepika/Priyanka. All of them just need to crack auditions. Nothing else matters. Hollywood doesn't care about PR, networking, or instagram followers. So if deepika/priyanka failed, does not mean Alia will fail as well. But she needs to be smart about it. Religiously audition and not move base to USA.

Hollywood does care about how big a star you are in bollywood to an extent. They most definitely cared about it in PC's case. I dont think she would land quantico if she wasnt famous in india. Alia is a popular actress, so if something suits her in the west, the best thing she can get is a show. The reason for this is ratings. They want to draw in the indian population to watch their show, theres a huge market there.

In terms of films...yes, I agree. Mainly b/c ratings are not as important. Tara sutaria almost starred in a huge hollywood film just by auditioning. And she almost got it. If she got the film, she would be huger than priyanka is in hollywood. She would have surpassed alia and deepika it itself. Naomi scott is starring in charlies angels now and she got a huge fan following just after Aladdin. Same thing with Gal Gadot, she was a foreign actress and made it big in HW.

So if Alia is talented enough to land a film role just by her talent in a role that suits, than it will work for her. Nothing about being smart, you just have to be talented and well suited for the role. My argument is that there simply is not enough opportunity for foreign indian actresses to succeed in the west. This is exactly why Priyanka and Mindy kaling, Lily Singh, etc are trying to create opportunities. This is the current state.

It's not about the body structure. It's about charisma, either you have it or you don't. Aloo doesn't have the charisma. That's why she makes a joke out of herself by trying hard.

HW auditions two types of Indian actors... Very very popular ones and nobodies. Showing bought instagram/Twitter followers one can fool HW to invite her/him for auditions, but s/he has to impress them during auditions. Aur tryhard joke of a celeb se yeh na ho payega.

There is no formula to crack Hollywood. In that case, people like Mindy Kaling, Kunal Nayyar, Lily Singh and Kumail Nanjiani wouldn't have become the first known faces.

Being a generic Westernized hot is really valued in India but that doesn't mean the actual West will go crazy for them. Every soap opera beefcake looks like Hrithik there and half the waiters in Los Angeles trying to become actors look similar. Aish's light skin and light eyes make people go gaga in India but in HW, they already have Angelina and Megan Fox and dozens of others just like that.

I know it's just an excuse to pick on Alia's looks for the 197597th time but her looks are not going to be a hindrance at all. Being popular in another country automatically gets you into auditions. If she picks the right roles (teen movie types), she has just as good a chance as anyone else.

Personality and all that doesn't matter either or else Deepika would have never gotten xXx. She can barely string a sentence together and is complete cringe in interviews.

Deepika got a pretty big movie, but she didn't click with the audience neither on screen or off screen. Also the movie fitted the persona of a foreign exotic character. This is what attractive indian actresses are majorly in over there. Priyanka has not played a big lead role in film there as of yet despite having a connect with indian americans over there and being very publicly known. She is a regular on ET entertainment, she is well known in the states.

What makes Alia obliged to be in roles when someone like priyanka has not done anything substantial in film. There is no opportunity clearly.

Also What roles could Alia do over there? If you are talking about a netflix teen film sure, a tv show on ABC, sure. but a film like Aladdin, charlies angels, silver linings playbook. I would say her chances are close to none. You gotta have opportunity as well as be able to connect with the american audience. I dont see it working for her. imo.
