Could Sanjay Dutt have been better choice as Khilji?

Ranveer did the part really well though there were some low points and some OTT scenes but he did justice to it. That is why it's called more of a Ranveer Singh movie than DP's or Shahid's. Saying that I think Sanju is also an exceptionally good actor and I haven't watched the promo of Panipat yet but the way he portrayed the negative character of Kancha Cheena in Agneepath and to forget his role in Khalnayak, I think he would have done a good job as well but I think he's too old to portray Khilji.

maybe, but I always wanted Kay Kay Memon as Khilji, no not the Khal Drago copycat version of SLB, but the sophisticated and educated evil elite psychopath that was Khilji.

no, the way slb wanted khilji to be portrayed i feel only ranveer could do justice to it, like the song binte dil, i cannot imagine sanjay dutt doing that lol, and then there is khalibali, ranveer has that energy and portrayed the madness very well

sanjay in the panipat trailer was lacklustre, i didn't find him scary or intimidating

If Khilji = being caricaturish and OTT,then Ranveer was perfect!!!

apart from kids and those who get easily scared, no one found Ranveer's Khilji scary either though.

fair enough if you didn't find him to be scary, but ranveer's khilji was crazy and barbaric which is how slb wanted him to be portrayed, slb wanted his khilji to be a narcissistic and quite eccentric, and i think ranveer portrayed all those traits in the film very well

maybe sanjay wud have done khilji differently, but i don't think he wud have been able to put as much energy into the role as ranveer did, also i don't think sanjay cud have done the songs in padmvaat, binte dil and khalibali are very memorable songs and ranveer elevated those songs with his energy, same as he did with malhari

I don't care how Sanju would have done it, you were talking about fear factor, Ranveer's version wasn't scary, and that is my point, as you were spectikal of Sanju because you didn't find him scary in Panipat trailer.
