I love at least one movie of each of them.
They all are good in their own way.

yeah you are right but I voted for Gauri Shinde since she made English Vinglish which is one of my favourite movies of this decade! I can watch it again and again -- it's that good. The way it effortlessly portrays a subtle sort of feminism is wonderful.

I had the exact same reasoning
Zoya > Reema > Meghna. Zoya appears to be the most talented of the lot and someone you can trust to make a good/very good movie as long as she picks the right subject. Even her weaker films are reasonably watchable. Talaash was a strong film but Reema followed that up with a very meh Gold. I kinda suspect it was meant to be a patriotism bandwagon jumping cash grab vehicle rather than a creative choice. Not totally convinced about Meghna yet. She struck gold with VB's script with Talvar but a better director would have made a truly great film with that. Haven't seen Gauri Shinde's movies. Have zero interest in Shonali Bose's films. Tanuja is a mediocre director based on whatever bits I have seen of her films. Farah is a madaari rather than a director.
Sai Paranjpe might be the GOAT female director in BW though.

THIS.
I hope her next film lives upto the potential she has. I loved Talaash, and found it to be a very underrated movie. I even loved her Honeymoon Travels.
Tbh I have no favs but I do like ZNMD by Zoya a lot and EV by Gauri Shinde, the movie could be watched again again.
Gauri Shinde for sure. English Vinglish is a masterpiece. Dear Zindagi was also very well directed, but the script wasn't as strong as EV.
Zoya Akhtar is absolutely amazing too, she is getting better with each film. I didn't love ZNMD, but DDD + GB are wonderful.
Konkona Sen Sharma made a damn good debut with The death in the gunj. Curious to watch more.
Of this list, Gauri was fab with English Vinglish, but Dear Zindagi gave me a migraine. Zoya is also good but I feel she's usually overpraised. Farah was good with Main Hoon na and OSO, don't know what happened to her after that. Meghna Gulzar is good too, but is yet to blow my mind.
We do need more female directors though. Hope it happens soon.
