Yup! Loved this show so much. The mother is immature but very headstrong and independent. On the other hand, daughter is mature, sensible but very timid and shy. And the role of mother-daughter is very well defined when situation permits, even though they are more like best friends having only 16 years difference (like mini-babita). Lorelai lot of times uses the mom card when Rory tries to overstep the boundary. I wish the similar thing was shown in PB.

And of course the Luke and Lorelei are just love. They kinda remind me of HS and Babita 😳

I never really thought about it before you mentioned it, but do u think that’s where the creators got the idea from? And then decided to tweak it to suit the indian audience, but failed massively with being so inconsistent in the way the characters were written?

I don’t know. But this show has always reminded me kinda of Gilmore Girls, esp. Mini-Babita bond, and HS-Babita bond, and the absent father. Of course there is a lot of difference between the two show, the in-laws angle, divorce angle etc. You never know they could have gotten the initial idea of mother-daughter bond from here... but PB became more about giving the social message (up until 200 episodes at least), but GG is not like that in any way. GG is really well written in terms of character arcs than PB.

Some similarities I see: Luke also gives loan to Lorelei to start her business like HS gives Babita. Lorelei always reaches out to Luke for advise and support. Luke and Lorelei were always attracted to each other but always defined their relationship as friends and always denied anything on that front similar to HS-Babita though there were major sexual tension between them, similar to Hanita. It was always “is there, isn’t there”, “will they be more than friends” etc. Rory and Luke shared a lovely bond, he was a father figure to her like HS-Mini, and was fiercely protective of Rory, like HS is towards Mini. Luke and Lorelai sneaking up on Rory and her bf is what I would have liked to see HS-Babita do to Mini and her bf in PB 😆.

Edit: one of the differences but is kinda funny... in GG, Luke is the cook and is a provider of food for Rory and Lorelei since Lorelei can’t cook. In PB, Babita is the cook and makes food for HS 😆

Mere dad ki dulhan will likely have the story I really wanted to see in PB.. how a kid who was the sole world of her parent adjusts with someone else sharing that space.. I really want to see such a track so I think I am gonna give that show a try.. of course Varun and Shweta being excellent performers is an added bonus

Varun and She are senior highly popular actors who only do strong roles with a different script.. so there is less danger of any character being sidelined fpr another in this one so ya.. after the bitter PB experience, I am surely gonna give this one a try😆

I hope it stays same as promos... but I’ll skip... won’t be able to take another shock... but I think it’s from better production house than KK... let’s hope for the best...
