Decoding Narenika aka Dr Naren Sippy

OK, so a lot of us hate Narenika. I dislike him too. But on a closer inspection, I tried to understand if he is being unreasonable or not. So I tried to think of all the possible apprehensions he has towards Sonakshi:

1. Sona is an actress. Yes every industry has its share of pros and cons and given the glamour world is constantly in the media glare, things tend to blow out of proportion. Its all over the place. Yes that's a package deal all celebrities have to endure but if you are used to leading a private life and you have worked towards earning a respectable place in the society for yourself will you want to throw it all away?
2. Naren was on his way to work as usual and we all saw how he was hounded by media. He was only concerned about tending to his patient and even a minute's delay can result in dire consequences. We saw how media presented the whole incident in today's episode. Media has gone to the dogs to be honest off late. They just want sensational news. They are not concerned with publishing the news and generating awareness which is what they should be doing. What if they never let him go on time and what if his patient had to pay the price for it? Will media take accountability for their actions?
3. Suman is too tacky and the way she keeps throwing her tackiness on others is crossing a limit honestly. Even if Sippys werent rich and were a decent working class people, they would have preferred a ceremony that was done well within their limit. All middle class families too work within a budget. Within that budget they try to afford the best. They wouldn't like it if some sponsors came in and tried to turn the wedding venue into an ad shoot campaign. Even if they sponsored the whole thing and u didn't pay a penny from ur pocket would u like it if someone said ur enjoying the perks that came without a price? I personally hate the idea of spending money on a wedding. But that doesn't mean I will like it if I get a free wedding. Every person rich or poor has some self esteem. They wouldn't like it if it was violated in this fashion
4. Plus Naren has a dark secret. Even though that is a well kept secret he is bound to fear that one day it will be exposed and he stands to loose everything if that happens. What's worse is that Sona being a celebrity there is every possibility this will affect him infinitely worse if its out in media

But that being said its also weird how he seemed perfectly OK with Sona when the fake drama started. Infact he did not raise any objections back then. Either they should have shown him to have a problem all along or him being cool with everything. Infact he got upset coz of Mhatre incident but he got to know Sona risked everything for Pooja's sake. I thought he would have felt grateful towards her at least after that. But his dislike continues to grow exponentially with each passing day 🤔 I will say this is just inconsistency in story telling bas.

I just said this in the DT mandy that it's the makers who are changing the storyline just to incorporate some villains in the leads love story here and there. As Veena is shown to be too sweet from starting so making her villain of their love story will completely be illogical and fans will react terribly. So they r trying with him as he already has a backstory. Though I agree with your points here but still I can't bear with Naren's behavior. The persons behavior is a reflection of his class as well.Yes Suman is loud no doubt in that but Naren is just a classy old thinking orthodox individual as well. He can clearly try to solve his inhibitions by talking to Sonakshi and Rohit personally about these matters. But instead he is behaving all insane and preparing prenup without even telling his son.

Naren is like he doesn't like TV actress and all the silly classy reasons he gave were all tacky as well.. His thinking itself is tacky.. Agreed that anyone would have not liked the way suman is behaving but naren's behavior isn't justified as well except for when he went for the delivery of the patient by pushing the media..

On one hand he tells TV is cheap and doesn't have class and on the other hand he does one of those cheap things of daily soaps to stop the wedding.. Like srsly prenup papers... I wouldn't be surprised if he secretly calls sonakshi and shows her the papers and pressurizes her to sign it..

That I understand yaar and it makes sense to show Naren opposing the match since Naren and Rohit don't get along well. Given Veena's nature it is illogical to show her become the villain. See problem is even if Naren wants to discuss the issues he has with Sonakshi with Sona and her family, his own wife and mom will stop him from doing so. But that does not help solving the root cause of the problem. Problems are sorted by discussing them out and not by suppressing them. Given Rohit is not willing to hear him out, even if he had a genuine issue with Sonakshi's profession and even if Rohit himself shared a similar view, he will discard it for the simple fact that he has no respect for his father. Prenup is no solution however. He should probably call the family together and share his apprehensions about Sona's profession and how he feels this is impacting them rather than do all this vamp wala plotting. Remember that leja leja dance sequence when Suman whistles loudly before Sona's entry? It was not just Nishi and Rohit but even the other Sippys too found it tacky. Rohan and Tanya as well gave a WTH is happening looks. Right now everyone is in their la la land and happy being happy for Rohit but what when the issues they ignored crop up and start causing trouble for Ronakshi? Right now Rohit is blissfully in love but this initial haze will fade off and what happens next? Won't these things cause a rift in their marriage? As much as I dislike Naren (never liked him from start) he does have a valid point that he can see the impending doom. Before things go out of hand it is good to sit down and set forth everybody's expectations and understand if there is a workaround for the issue. Not cast it aside and say lets cross the bridge when we get there kind. Because for a family that maintained a private life all this while getting pushed to the forefront of page 3 is a huge change. One needs to acknowledge and come to terms with getting used to it.

Like Rosh said they introduced this to show a villain in Ronakshi story from Sippy family. But it does feel inconsistent from a story telling standpoint.

4th point is the most important reason. Sippys may be rich but they are not as popular as Sonakshi. If before being associated with Sonakshi, Naren's affair's secret had been out, it had been mostly remained as a private affair.Neither media nor common people had been interested in Naren's extra marital affair. But now both media and general public will definitely be interested in private matters of Sonakshi's in laws. That is why Naren doesn't want any relationship with Sonakshi as he sees it as a huge risk for him in future.

First off, I don't like Naren myself 😆 The reason y I made this post is because he did have some valid reasons for not wanting Ronakshi marriage and I too feel this could become a huge issue post their marriage. So it needs to be addressed now itself so that whatever issues come later post their marriage can be handled smoothly. See when it comes to glamour industry everybody has their reservations. I know its not fair to judge an industry like that but it is common knowledge that you are working in an industry where it is more than common to get attracted to people easily. How many weddings broke last year? Some lasted for less than a year in fact. In reality shows people get into relationship like switching their clothes and once that show is over it barely even lasts. I am not saying everyone is like that. But when majority are like that, how is it possible for an outsider to not generalize that? Rather than suppress Naren entirely, it will be good if the whole family sit together and understand how they will sort this out. Naren too should probably have an open talk with Sona and express his concerns and understand how she will plan on keeping the media out of their lives so that it doesn't impact their family and business. This will give Sona an opportunity to think how she can maintain that balance in her life. Naren is entirely wrong in getting a prenup drawn without his family being aware and but his family are not entirely right in letting this subject drop. Pooja too herself in planning to venture into the glamour industry but since she is just starting off, they are not aware of all the consequences they have to face. Like Sona said she has faced worse than a wardrobe malfunction but for the Sippys that felt like an end of the world kinda scenario. So even they need to adjust to the changes that will happen in their family. Just like how Sona will have to adjust to theirs.

No inconsistency. Naren was shown to be ok with Sona (though never doting over her like Veena). Then her arrest in the Mhatre case happened & he saw the kind of bad press resulting fm her being a celeb. That turned him against an actress bahu (not against Sona, he has never been shown to hv any personal hatred for Sona). Even though he realised & appreciated her sacrifice when the truth was revealed, it doesnt change the fact that she was suspected because she is an actress, the case got bad publicity coz she is a celeb. If she had been Dr Dimpy wld all that hv happened?

I dont like Naren - but not because he has a problem with an actress bahu, I think those are valid concerns. I dont like him coz he himself is an immoral cheat & hypocrite who failed to uphold his family’s honour & he has the nerve to crib about Sona’s effect on the family prestige & decency & reputation. Rohan is another such hypocrite

If DS or Veena had raised those concerns abt a celeb bahu I wld be qt sympathetic.

I agree with you cent percent.. In my above post I didn't mean to say that your points are wrong.. Nor did I say that your justifications are wrong.. I read your post nd I know that even u dont like naren.. I just said my point of view of him being a hypocrite.. Even I agree to your point of he solving out his issues by directly talking to sonakshi first and then ronakshi together... But instead he chose the path which most of the time is shown in TV shows ( which apparently naren hates ) I was just trying to highlight his hypocrisy...

I know sonakshi has to adjust with the family and so do the sippys....

Ps: let's just watch it as fiction... I just felt shaping naren's character could have been better... Let's see how it progresses... And my tone in my previous post was that of sarcasm and tinge of irritation towards naren... It was not anger towards your post.. Sorry, if you found it rude .. It was not intentional..
