It was basically to establish authority in the Haveli. Minnie can't do whatever she wants anymore, especially misbehave with Babita. She might have gotten away with it before but not anymore. It's also him trying to create the fixed parent-child dynamics. Minnie is the child, and as a child, she has certain limits that she cannot cross, and being disrespectful to her parents is one of them.

Yes, he doesn’t mean ehsaan in the sense of a favor. He’s asking her to have regard for her mom and him it seems.

That's how I saw it too. Lots of parents tell their kids this when disciplining them, but Babita and Minnie have never seen Ashok or anyone else do this to her so they will struggle to accept it. Lol! I'm so happy.
