I don't know why government isn't even initiating to think about eradication or at least modification of reservation! ... I would think it's about time ... 🙄

Oh they made the perfect modification. Cut out 10% from general category and gave it to economically weaker section. So now we have 60% reservation and 40% unreserved seats in everything 😆

not a single govt will go against it.

Last year, Supreme Court gave a decision regarding not putting a person straight in jail on non bailable charges under SC/ST atrocities act. SC/ST people blamed Modi for this where as the case was about an old man being beaten by some goons who were from SC community and the old man was put behind the bar. Also like dowry cases, many false cases were files and it was misused so much that the Court has to take the decision . In delhi there were many protests against this decision. The hate was too much and Govt. brought a law to reverse it which let them lose Madhya Pradesh election.

Reversal law pe Govt ko bahut gali padi thi. So they will never touch anything related to positive or negative regarding reservation. It's a big lose-lose situation for political parties.

I think this reservation also applies to private school and colleges.Basically a general category person will have a hard time finding education for their children too now. Job toh dur ki baat hai.

Caste based discrimination is real and affects many generations of people. People who are either ignorant or in denial of this should be the last ones to weigh in on this topic which requires a nuanced discussion.

you are absolutely right.

The general category people are bearing the brunt of the system now.

By the way, how is reservation system going to change someone's mindset about caste based discrimination?

They will modify it. By bringing in quotas in private sector as well. It will happen sooner than you think. If you belong to the general category, get the hell out before it's too late.

According to Indian Express, a bench of Justices Dipak Misra and PC Pant noted that despite several reminders to the central and state governments to make merit the primary criteria for admissions into super-specialty courses, the reality is that reservation is given preference over merit.

reservation system should be demolished completely. as they said Merit should be the criteria for admissions. Govt should help poor students (with merit) in pursuing their higher education by waiving fee and/or sanction merit-cum-means scholarships. but a big NO to reservations under any category, whether its a caste based or economic status based.

they say 'The Future of The Nation Depends on Teachers.' how can any teacher with poor subject knowledge who got that job under reservation category will shape the future generation?

reservation system may fuel brain drain which can hinder India's development🤔

This is causing more divide bcoz people say " he or she got job even after getting less marks and i scored more and still didnt get it. It causes more bitterness. One of my cousin had to score over 650 marks this year in neet to get MBBS seats in govt college bcoz she cant afford 50 lakhs mbbs fees whereas her friend got better college with half of the mark. My other cousin scored 500 plus but didnt get any good college. Now he hates the friend . How could anyone justify it. When friend's dad is doctor whereas my cousin dad is just a simple teacher "

For real.. I didn't know what is caste until I wrote my NEET exam. Funny part is this doesn't end here. Even after getting reservation in NEET UG, they get reservation once again in NEET PG. They study in the same environment as other students, get scholarships, free books from libraries, and even after all that they get reservation once again for pg exam. People who get good marks are settling for non clinical subjects like Anatomy, microbiology.. whereas people who have extremely bad marks are taking Surgery, paediatrics. Sad state of affairs!! And this reservation is actually increasing the rivalry between people. This is definitely not how you end caste discrimination.
