The fact that you are complaining about going to chennai and then getting thrashed for saying " India mein rehke Hindi nahi aati " is a testimony of the fact that the pro- Hindi side is much more problematic than the anti-Hindi side .. I mean how can you be so self entitled and irrational while trying to highlight how "the other side" is problematic .?! . Isn't that self-defeating ? .. You tried to prove something and ended up doing the exact opposite .. 😆

@bold: First of all thrashing by a whole crowd for speaking some rubbish (be it anything) is not justified anywhere so No.

I have already mentioned in the very same post that these statements are just some stupid Northies saying some rubbish which you seemed to have conveniently skipped.

And I was not complaining, this line was mentioned by someone else in some comment that Northies say so and I was just trying to let them know that noone can use this line and get away in most cities like Chennai/Vizag, so their comment seemed a rare occurance.

So yeah, not being self-entitled or irrational here but was just letting people know the reality. Maybe try reading the entire convo before isolating a line and then jumping on other people. Might help you the next time you decide to make personal attack on the next person.

The fact that you endorse such thrashings/violence for a silly line just validates my comment that the problem is on both sides.

It mostly happens when the person.goes to North and than can't speak Hindi. And it isn't something only Hindi native speakers do, many Indians don't know India doesn't have national language, so many people from many different states, who knows Hindi, have said this line. I know a Mizo, a fcuking Mizo saying this line, about Kannada people, after his stay in Mangalore.

What ? ..

Are you saying a Tamil person when in North India can get away with saying things like " India mein rehke Tamil nahi aati " ?

When a northie goes to south or vice versa , there might be hiccups in communication but that isn't something which people cant handle .. The problem occurs when the propaganda of "learn my superior language" is shoved down people's throats .. Then you start coming across statements like "Hindi is a child in diapers" .. Propaganda of any sort can never help unite people , it divides .. I have seen southies fight hard against the "propaganda" but at the same time make desperate attempts to learn Hindi for "communication purpose" .. Everything will be fine if you just let people be without an imposition or questioning their Indian-ness on baseless grounds ..

No I didn't said that. I said that trouble meant that a North Indian isn't foolish enough to say that line in public in South. In simple words.

Baaki propoganda and all that justification for Kamal Hassan's madarchod anti-Hindi/hate inciting statement, I don't care. As I have already said, jisko sikhna hai sikhe, jisko nahi sikhna hai naa sikhe bc.

When the intention is to troll , i fully support violent retaliation .. Thats how you put trolls in their place .. And this isnt just about physically being in south and trolling the localites with statements like "India mein rehke Hindi nahi aati " .. I have seen it happen in MNCs where a lady from Delhi used the same line on her southern colleagues out of sheer ignorance .. The propaganda in the north is so strong that the people there truly believe that Hindi is our national language .. Thats what we are taught in the north schools since childhood ..So, that mindset is pretty much set and hard to do away with .. Thats how south is forced to retaliate with facts ..

This whole "other side" is problematic argument wouldn't exist , if "the propaganda" didnt exist .. You cannot address the other side without addressing the propaganda first ..

You are launching attacks on south India and now you are complaining about my "personal attacks" on you .. Like i said before , self entitled and irrational .. 😆

Hindi is a mixture of Sanskrit, Persian, (very little) Arabic and the regional languages from the Hindi belt. I'm not a history expert, but my guess is because Lucknow/Agra was the seat of power, Urdu quickly became the linguafranca across India.

Both the language, and the devnagari script are recent inventions, considering our long history. Although good as a common language, Hindi is unfortunately gradually killing older, comparatively more ancient, regional languages.

Here's my opinion (and you're free too disagree):

1. If you're an Indian right wing or conservative, you should actually support the conservation of your mother tongue (if you think Hindi is your mother tongue, then your actual mother tongue was lost -maybe a couple of- generations back). And thus you shouldn't really support Hindi (what with its strong Persian influence) and try to conserve the pre Mughal era Indian languages

2. If you're communist, then Hindi could have been a good language to maintain samaanata or equality. However, when we really need to kill the native languages why not straight go to English? Make that the linguafranca. That way at least a non English medium studied kid would never in his life feel a sense of missing out on the rich kids fancy language. There would be true equality.

But they are and they expect to get away with it out of sheer entitlement and irrational sense of security provided by the Hindi propaganda .. Unfortunately they are faced with facts instead .. 😆

Since when did stating facts/sharing experiences become "launching attacks"? If that's the case then I guess all the states/regions of India have been attacked in this thread by some comment or another.

You obviously either didn't understand my comment/go through it before jumping in.

@blue: Seems like retaliation with facts equates to violence in your dictionary (to put the "trolls in their place") .

Anyone who supports this kind of violence(peeps from North, South, North East, Bengalis, Marathis, anyone) is as it is not worth having a civil conversation so not gonna reply any further.

Try harder the next time buddy. Peace out.
