No way. Rani, Preity, Kareena and PC were ahead of her during 2000’s. Kajol was also ahead of her but she got married early and had a daughter. That’s why she left Bollywood for few years. Then, after 2007 Kat ruled Bollywood for few years and then DP ruled Bollywood. Now Alia is ruling Bollywood. Ash is known for her beauty than her work. She did like 35 movies and only 6 movies became hit. Dhoom 2 and Devdas would’ve become hit without her.

Weren't Saathiya , Chalte Chalte and KANK hits too for Rani? Also Priety had Koi Mil Gaya and Salam Namaste as hits too.

I think Rani was more successful than Ash in BW, she had a number of critical and box office hits. I don't know the time period specifically.

I think it's 2003-2006. Rani dominated during that time period. Chalte Chalte, Saathiya, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Bubly, Black, KANK(which is panned in this forum but was a hit) all came during this time period. She definitely had lot more hits than Aish during that time period.

I’m not saying who was better actresses, in fact she wasn’t as bad actress as people make her out to be, I’m saying interms of female stardom, she was far ahead of all the actresses, Rani came close though. It’s debatable if Devas would of become hit without, she was the leading lady and hit with Sanjay leela bhansali in HDDCS ensured she offered her his next film.

Hamara dil aapke paas hain, mohabhatein, Devdas, Dhoom 2, Guru, Jhoda Akbhar. It wasn’t just about giving hits also, there was various factors.

I don’t think they were ahead of her in star appeal. She has got more highest grossing films that decade than all the females in that list, ok we can include Ameesha Patel but despite that she wasn’t ever in the race.

From the years 1999 to 2003 it was Aishwarya's peak. Kajol was slowing down and had some good roles. But those were Aishwarya's years and they were her years FOR HER ACTING performances, Taal, HDDCS, HDAPH, Mohabbatein, Devdas, Chokar Bali were Ash's strong performances that were also award winning.

Rani was popular from 2003-2006 with huge performances. Preity peaked in 2004 with Kal Ho Na Ho after that she was done. Kareena's peak was Jab We Met in 2007. Priety and Kareena were NOT better than Ash in the 2000's. Preity for one cannot act and Kareena was horrible in the 2000's.

She's definitely always been popular despite her flops. She has always been relevant and didn't have to be the best actor to achieve that. It's charisma and screen presence, even if she isn't on her A game--there's still something about that is astonishing.

She's also kept out of social media until recently so she's had that old school BW charm of being a bit of a mystery and only divulging to the media/fans what she wants.
